A real pleasure to have someone do one of the "HMMWV Videos" that actually knows what he is talking about! FYI: All USMC HMMWVs are built at AM General are built with the Deep Water Fording Kit partially installed. In the case of that CDR Valve you mentioned, the DWF USMC configuration have an additional port on the top that connects to the system. Perhaps in any future/update, you may want to talk about the wheels, runflats, beadlocks, etc.

Power Steering Tip: If you have to open the lines on the Power Steering/Breaks. What I did to reduce time to get the air out of the line is to jack up the front end and reduce (not eliminate) pressure on the tires, just enough that you can move the steering wheel lock to lock (engine running). I did this till I felt that the breaks were starting to work (about 10 times to the left and then to the right), At this time I topped off the reservoir and then test drove. Usually then it will start to feel normal, when this happens just make sure that you check the level again. If the line seams to pop of the cooler, what I did was add another hose clamp. That seams to do the trick. I used a box end wrench to make sure that the clamp was as tight as could be with out breaking it.

@@okjd159 did the same with my old Olds Cutlas that had a junk GM diesel in it that I swapped out with a Rocket V8. Something let go in the power steering pump and I had to replace the hydra boost, power steering box and the pump. Purging the air in these systems can be a pain but when you know the tricks it’s a cake walk.

The Crankcase Depression Regulator Valve (CDRV), has nothing to do with a fording kit. It came on all 6.2 & 6.5 diesels from GM. It purpose is to relieve crankcase pressure and vent it into the intake for emission control. A standard PCV system will not work because the engine has no throttle plate to develop a vacuum.

Wait until you have to buy a control module or you have to buy a transfer case they are different. The transfer mission is different. The front differential is very expensive and the locking differential goes out about every 50,000 miles if they make it that far most of them don’t make it over 30,000 miles the brakes wear out and are not very good. It would be interesting to know if the steering boxes can be change out for the new box on the A1 version. Does your friend have any issue with regulations on straight piping the exhaust ? Another issue is with the intake box where they have restricted the air intake to prevent excess water from entering the engine. There is one KZbinr who cut out the restriction plate and has claimed better performance. I had an old Challenger back in the eighties and I noticed a major difference when removed the stock air filter and used a low restriction filter. Good luck with the projects! Waiting to see if I can pick one up from a friend. Found a company in the Netherlands that can ship it over to the EU where I currently work and they can handle the red tape for the EU but I am not sure if they can handle the paperwork for the country I work in. From what I gather shipping and some of the paperwork runs around $10K. They also stock a large assortment of parts as well.

FYI: That "youtuber" that changed the design of his HMMWV's air induction system does not know what problems he may have caused! AM General designed many systems on the HMMWV to work with each other ...when one alters/modifies one they may be affecting others. In his case, the HMMWV's gear box venting system may not all sufficient venting of the gear boxes (seal leakage) or too much vacuum created by his modification (sucking fluids into the air intake). Yes, there are dozens 7 dozens of folks out there trying to get in your wallet selling you what they say are "UPGRADES." When you come across one them peddling their "UPGRADES" simply ask them to show you the "comparison test data" that proves their products are better than original and watch them run! Bling-IS-Bling, not an UPGRADE!😁
