Plane Spotting at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport | Close up landings - Polderbaan

After well over a year since my last Amsterdam visit, I've finally returned, and oh my I forgot how great the Polderbaan really is. This time they were using 18R to land on, which meant for some close up touchdowns, including plenty of heavies!
The weather was also perfect, beautiful clear skies all day, it was one of my highlights so far this year. One thing that I did notice was the lack of KLM 747's now at Amsterdam, when I visited in 2016 there were loads of them, but now most of the routes they operated on have since been replaced by 777's, A330's and 787's. Very sad really, to be exact I only saw one passenger 747 in the 5 hours I was there for

Casey i believe a visit to Amsterdam was well overdue and you manage to go back there. In my opinion that spot that you spotted from was perfect and again another excellent spotting you got some interesting catches as well. Well done Casey. A lot of videographer's do plane spotting videos Mr Casey...but..in all your videos have noticed that you present such majestic and clear shots..taking care at the same time that there are negligible obstructions.. fences..trees... poles.. which frankly break a viewers concentration and spoil all the hard work being put in by the person shooting...as well irritate true Aviation enthusiast's..!!! thanks for sharing...!!!

This is a great video, no obstructions and close up nice job I am new to this plane spotting but did those first 2 KLM flights not use there reverse thrusters ?

Smaller planes like the embraer 170 may not need to use their reverse thrust as they can stop in the distance but it is up to the pilot whether he opens them and puts them at idle or doesn't bother opening them at all

To the Polderbaan by car naf / town Hoofddorp street ijweg no 751. + 300 mtr passed this no. take this road in north east direction it is on a dead end road there is a parking place at the end and you can walk on small road all the way along... the runway. West rw 18R 36L. It is ttl about 25 km from the AP terminal .By bus from AP take bus 300 get of at Vijfhuizen from there it is a 45 min walk. There is a bike rental in Vijfhuizen, 10 min walk from the bus stop. But call them first you can look it up!!! (In Dutch. Fiets verhuur vijfhuizen).

The runsway are very long so they dont need reversers

Short aircraft like the EMB family dont need reverse thrust for long runways but the EMB family will need reverse thruaters for short runways like london city airport's runway
