What a cool thing to see. Never thought a U2 could do a demonstration. Very cool! Great video. Had no idea it had an engine from the F-104.

I am 74 years old and have adored this plane since its inception. (Yes, I remember the Powers shootdown even at that young age.) For me, the attraction of this plane is its sophisticated elegance, especially with more recent updates with longer wings and an extended nose. No offense to any aviation buff, but the U2 has a near feminine, as in femme fatal, persona: its long wing grace; its feather-soft touchdowns; its refined lethality. Despite recent attempts to retire this plane and replace it with drones, I hope the U2 flies for decades more and long after I am gone.

No offense, but the U-2S is known as the Dragon Lady, so how would your comment offend any informed aviation buff?

I’m 56. I saw the TR-1A and SR-71A at Mildenhall in the early ’80s. Gone, but never forgotten.

Despite the U2 waking me up almost every morning at the crack of dawn it's still my favorite plane

A cousin helped design the U2! His name was Dr Edwin Land. He had more than 500 patents, including the Polaroid camera and polarized sheet (as in sunglasses).

3:49 that fancy I always wonder why there was a chase car I always thought because they could runway! Cockpit was so tightly enclosed

It's similar to how Airman on aircraft carriers coordinate the landing on carrier ships except they're in a vehicle chasing

i never expected it to be quiet, but now, learning that it's basically an f104...i get it.

Planes TV you need to get your microphone sorted out. I have seen so many different video feeds from the Royal International tattoo this year and when it comes to aircraft sound and engines yours is the worst but U2 has got a lovely. Howl as it takes off gorgeous sound your microphone didn’t pick it up hardly and you was talking over the top of it at least waiting a few seconds before speaking
@joep50806 ай бұрын
get your own camera n mic n go film it rather than telling someone to do something, perhaps offer a suggestion if you think theres an issue. Your probably watching on a crap phone 😂😂😂

I'd rather the USAF bring back the B52 or B1B to RIAT at least those pilots give it some welly

What's the mission set for this aircraft now? It is easily detected with modern radars and can be shot down with modern missiles, so it's not like it can fly over countries like Russia, China, etc., correct? Or is it used for something other than spying and taking aerial photographs?
