I never heard about the critics of this film. I grew up where films like these are a scarcity. People are calling it unoriginal, but I rarely knew what is the "original" film they are talking about. Even if it released in 2009 and I remember seeing a glimpse of it, my first watch was in 2013 and wondering why is this banger not well known. Even worse is that the movie's message is even more relevant now with Ai alienizing people and stuff.

I don't know why people actually "hated" the movie. If it's unoriginal, then what story did they stole? I'm far away from America so I really have no idea, even with internet. If it's a bad movie then why the animation is on par or even surpassing recent releases? If its not suitable to kids, then why my parents allowed me to watch with family on public channel? If it's a cash grab, then why it's so well made for its budget? If it's heinous then please informed me on what did it do wrong. I never heard about this movie being bad and after watching it, I became even more confused on why it is bad. The most clue I get are from IMDb, but most of them didn't go into detail well enough and the rest of the reviews are just people masking off.
@ebthenerd61913 ай бұрын
"If it's unoriginal, then what story did they stole?" Unoriginal does not mean the same thing as deliberatly stealing. It can also mean over relying on tropes and cliches which might be what people are criticizing this movie for. "If it's a bad movie then why the animation is on part or even surpassing recent release?" First off, what reality are you living in where this movie's animation is that good? I've seen modern or even contemporary animation that's so much better (Spider-Verse, Toy Story 3). Second off, just because the animation is good doesn't mean the movie is good. If that was the case then the Michael Bay Transformers movies would be considered good because of the impressive CG animation. "If it's not suitable to kids, then why my parents allowed me to watch with family on public channel?" I don't actually think this movie is unsuitable for kids, but I don't think that's a good argument for that position. My dad let me watch Terminator 2 when I was a little kid but that doesn’t make that movie age appropriate. "If it's a cash grab, then why it's so well made for its budget?" "Cash grab" does not mean "poorly made." There are plenty of well-made cash grab movies out there (MCU).

I watched this movie when I was a kid and I thought it was funny. Its not the best movie ever and has its flaws, not enough sci-fi references, where's the Day the Earth Stood still and the Blob reference?! And the adult jokes is nothing new or shocking, just look at the Animaniacs and Rocko Socko adult jokes and you'll know what I mean. And the animation, while good it feels kinda stiff. I know its suppose to be "realistic" but on a planet of generic green men who don't wear pants you'd expect them to move more cartoony. Overall, I recommend checking it out and letting your kids watch it. It won't rot their brains and there's always something better but if they're curious let them watch. How many Alien movies have the alien tried to hide the human instead of the other way around? You can't name five. 7/10 with a thumbs up for alright
@soapybsuds4 ай бұрын
there aren't direct references to 'the day the earth stood still' or 'the blob', i just meant that these are films from the 1950s that demonstrate the same fear of the unknown that this film was trying to get at.
