It’s not within walking distance to many things.. but you can take a taxi or city bus to the main Cancun strip for shopping and nightlife.

great review. im undecided on whether to go bahia tulum or this place. we have a 5yr and 18 month old. obviously this hotel coming from the uk is slightly more expensive by like 1500 more flying tui 2 weeks just wondered on if there much difference between the hotels food+drink wise? we like to book rsvp for dinners, are both easy to book or fully booked all time

I would recommend Bahia Principe Tulum 💯💯💯 much better resort overall - great food, rooms, and splash pad for the kiddos. The beach is beautiful, but a bit rocky, so bring water shoes. The restaurants are easy to book as well.

@ashleyphillips5922 the Planet Hollywood “looks” nice from afar, but it was very disappointing - the rooms were falling apart after only a few years of being open, the service was lacklustre and the food/restaurant situation was very frustrating (long lines and unorganized). We’ve been to BP Tulum multiple times and it has been great each time 👍🏻 I would recommend Tulum over Coba for sure - Coba is outdated and far from the beach. Tulum is great for families, plus you can visit Coba any time you want 👍🏻 we also really loved Riu Palace Costa Mujeres, but it doesn’t have splash parks for the small kiddos.

Hi Again Andrew & Mona - just got back from Vegas ; now planning for Cancun beginning of next year. Sounds interesting but I’m thinking of staying w/ RIU Resorts , as in the Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun. As for the food- I find it’s hit or miss in Mexico. At least that’s my experience so far. Where’s your favourite resort in Cancun ? Cheers ! Chef Bari

Yes we liked the Peninsula 👍🏻 we found food in Mexico very it or miss too - especially after the pandemic 🫣 we were always able to find something good to eat at the peninsula, but the quality definitely decreased from the last time we went 🤷🏼‍♀️

The Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya has a lot to offer both kids and adults 👍🏻 the Riu Dunamar is more budget friendly and has a great water park 👍🏻

This was June, 2023 - but this beach is sheltered by Isla Mujeres, so it doesn’t typically get much seaweed at all 👍🏻

There’s not much in terms of supermarkets by the Planet Hollywood - it’s mostly just resort, after resort. It takes over an hour to get to the main Cancun strip, so you’re quite a ways out. You can pack some of your favourite snacks in your luggage - but you should be able to find enough food at the resort 👍🏻

@clarencegaultieri8293 we’ve been to a lot of resorts- and although it’s a beautiful place, there are lots of flaws and the resort is not well maintained or run.
