I have one of these from the '20's, that I rescued from the basement of my mother's house. I don't have a practical use for it, but I love having it around. It's such a beautiful and magnificently designed piece of antique DIY farm technology! Glad to see you're keeping the Old Ways alive. We Planet Jr. fans are like a secret society. ;)

Edward! I just found and bought the same Planet JR seeder on the internet. Do you know how to adjust the spacing in between the seeds? How old these machines?

I just bought a planet jr seeder in an antique shop. but mine is a bit different on the front wheel it has what I can only describe as the rods on a locomotive train that move when the wheels turn. I've looked around the Internet but can't seem to find mine .

Nice video! I'm trying to get started with an organic farm, and I'm trying to figure out a way to combine walk-behind seeders with plastic row covers. Any advice no that? Is it possible? Thanks!

Powell Manufacturing in Bennettsville, SC used to make those as late as 1998. They were using the exact wheels and probably same castings as the one in your video. Looks like someone is still keeping the line alive. In fact, the Owner's Manual can be found here: www.coleplanter.com/Assets/PlanetJr/Planet-Jr-Manual-18.pdf

I mean, plastic mulch - we will use row covers too sometimes, but plastic mulch is the thing we aren't sure will work with a walk-behind seeder...

great video, all the methods of resowing a paddock involve the use of chemicals. How can you resow a paddock organically without using chemicals to kill the weeds and such, thanks in advance.
