Hello, my friend, I haven't read the book yet, I'm from Brazil and I don't know how to speak English, I would like you to answer me if this book has planetary magic for success, victory, removing curses and for money, success in business... Is there any ritual I can do to: bring a person back in harmony? annihilate a persistent illness? can you answer me? It's going to take me a while to find out...because I have to translate the entire book via Google. But if you say you have all of this I'll be more excited!! Thanks.

Great book. I have to finish reading it. But it has helped me in understanding what Solomonic magic or should I say how Solomon used it to create his guide for planetary and universal magic. I know it’s a direct path for me because I got bucklands book on spiritual communication. A tarot deck I was holding had a card with the Heptagram star. It fell straight onto the book. So I started looking at the Kabbalah and the planets in orders. Got the crystal orders for the sephiroth and am currently waiting for Jupiter and mars to finish my crystal grid. I got some crystal towers for my Heptagram and it’s just been awesome. Magick is real. Anyone who wants to expand their mind. Pick this book up.

This is one of my favorite books, and there is so much to practice within. I particularly like the Egyptian Rituals, and use them often, with the Setting of the Wards the Aurum Solis uses now. The previous edition is worth buying as well, because it has illustrations of various planetary Spirits and Deities, some in full color. Also, previous Llewellyn books often had spoken lines in bold (easy to read in Ritual) whereas in this new edition, they are lighter and in italics. For me, the new edition is good for study, the previous is good for use in Ritual. Thanks for another excellent review!

@@LM-qv7cy Not really. Praising, yes; identifying with, yes: one could see the practices as using Divine Images for understanding/internalizing planetary energies, or (more in line with Aurum Solis practices) union with Divinity through planetary symbolism and energies.

I made a rune card set where the cards are heptagonal, then 'attributed' the 7 planets to each angle, with the planets at the top of the card being most relevant to that rune. Example: the Sula/Sigel rune has the Sun symbol at the top. It was really easy to do for some reason. Strange.

Wonderful review. I’m intrigued to know how the five volumes of Denning & Phillips original ‘Magical Philosophy’ series mapped across onto the paperbacks. I guess The Robe and The Ring and The Apparel of High Magick (HB) were gathered into The Foundations of High Magick (PB)? But that being the case, if the HB’s of The Sword and The Serpent and Mysteria Magica got their own PB editions, where did The Triumph of Light go? (It was the original Book IV in the HB series) Was it absorbed into one of the other paperbacks? I agree it would be great to see the whole series in print again. Can’t understand why it isn’t!

Mercury brings up ideas of direction, but Venus is prosperity... and yet Jupiter keeps coming to mind for its expansion. Then wolves keep popping up in my life and in dreams, more canines in dreams for about a year now... mars?

here is an idea, maybe you can explain the ogdoadic system i have a few of the books, by them, and different authors like Kraft and De Biasi.....but they really don't explain much, the books are more like a manual, than a teaching tool...like they don't say what the words of power mean, it took me years to find out what an archon is even after reading the books, i actually learned most of what i know about the system, from the journals i can read on scribd
@tanys93394 жыл бұрын
In brief, the Tradition is based on the Eight (Ogdoad) from Hermopolis, the city of Thoth, in Ancient Egypt. While Denning and Phillips were the leaders of Aurum Solis, the Order was more Qabalistic, with a Rennaisance feel (at least in public offerings), and since Jean-Louis de Biasi was chosen to be Grandmaster in 2003, Aurum Solis is more Theurgic, with a Ptolemaic Alexandria feel. Both are High Magick, that is, to assist the soul's evolution. The teachings of the Grand Masters are very complementary, and IMO the best books to read about the practices of the Order are Rediscover the Magick Of The Gods and Goddesses by Jean-Louis de Biasi, and Mysteria Magica by Denning and Phillips (already reviewed by Foolish Fish).

@@tanys9339 i get that, but for me, they don't have real explanations of the why behind the methods...the stuff they probably explain in physical meetings, the god names they use are greek, but why those, , what would be an english or whatever meaning for special terms

@@invisigoth777 A very good point, and it took me a while to find at least some of the origins of the Names of Archons etc. used. In my experience, the best thing is to do the Rituals and meet Them yourself. I have found the Aurum Solis Tradition to be an effective way to safely (and enjoyably) meet with Deity. Some of the words and Names in Greek/Latin/Hebrew are defined in the book, say Mysteria Magica, but Internet searches really helped, as well as cross referencing other Aurum Solis books. As it is said in an Aurum Solis recorded lecture "Theurgia" the Ogdoadic Tradition is vast. There are other Ogdoadic Orders with websites as well that can help.
@ronpipes19883 жыл бұрын
I once had a discussion with a Commander of an Ogdoadic lodge concerning the Gnostic Words of Power used in the rites. My question to this person was just where it was that the tradition obtained these names. I had scanned, searched, and read through a great many texts, including the corpus of the Nag Hammadi texts and, although I could find reference to some of these names, a great many others I just couldn't find anywhere. What I was told was that this remains one of the many great mysteries of the system. No one really knows where many of these names originated from, and if they do know they aren't saying. This was from a Commander of a major Lodge working the system, so I would have thought that if anyone would know, this person would. But they didn't know, and it was firmly believed that no one truly does know. As for learning the system itself, I would suggest the following. If you have Volume 1 of The Magical Philosophy (Foundations of High Magick), there is an appendix that gives a program for working through the material. Follow it. When it comes to certain items that are unclear, use meditation and dreamwork to see if anything can be discovered in that manner. I know that sounds like a cop out answer, but this system does seem to truly stir something within what they call the deep mind. At some point certain links to books or other material will likely shed light upon the items you have meditated upon, and this can come up in a rather bewildering manner. The key here is, I believe, to allow it to happen naturally. Just work with the material, take your time, do a great deal of meditation on the various topics and items, and allow the threads of it to all to come together naturally.
@tanys93393 жыл бұрын
@@ronpipes1988 A fairly comprehensive list of the Names used is in Mysteria Magica pages 96-100. Like you, I haven't found all the sources or meanings of them, but many will be familiar, such as Azoth, IAO, and Theos to most Magicians. Like most Magical Orders, AS material comes from several primary sources such as the Greek Magical Papyrus, Chaldean Oracles, the Hermetica, Gnosticism, and some are Greek (and not modern Greek at that) words for "nicknames" of Divinities on down. Many that I found were defined in The Ogdoadic Journal" which I found online. Some are defined in the public works of Jean-Louis de Biasi and Denning and Phillips. Admittedly, I paused my own searching after a while because there are so many, but searching the ones most commonly used is certainly helpful.
