I saw him playing many times with his time at Ajax and Cruijff has his coach. As a student I saw him a couple of times when he picked up his wife, his then girlfriend, from school. She went to college at neighbouring school. So me and some school friends often went to her school just to see.a glimps of Dennis. Back then we was a star in the making at Ajax. As a Dutch Ajax fan with a great admire for English football, and Spurs in particular, it was heartbreaking for me when he finally went to the Gunners. But for me, he's one of our greatest Dutch players of all time!

People keep talking about his first touch, his goals and his dribbling skills.. NO. Bergkamp had all that.. but his best attribute was his mind. He could thread a football through the eye of a needle and before you even knew you needed the ball.. it would be at your feet.

Bergkamp is a god. I got to see him play live (and score) when the Netherlands beat Ireland at World Cup 94.

Pretty sure Bergkamp is the only player who had three goals in match of the days goal of the month in one month. Absolutely certain that he's the only player to be 1 2 and 3 in the month. United fan here would never swap him for Eric but would have him in any team of any sort in any era.

It's a good video but there are far better ones where the footage is better and you you see the whole range of his skills. He had brilliant assists and goals.

Great reaction video! I was pleased to learn that his idol was Hoddle. My knowledge of football was limited as a kid but Glenn Hoddle and Cruyff fascinated me. Moving on, Dennis and Thiery were a joy to behold. Sublime. Put aside all the comparative criteria - you wanted to see these guys play. And boy, were you rewarded!

Crazy Bergkamp fact, a Dutch journalist made a bomb joke on the plane during the World Cup in the USA, they where onboard with the team, plane was evactuated and Bergkamp never flew again

We all copied his chip. The goalie used to go down too early and he chipped the ball over them. It changed all the goalkeeping tactics. I’m surprised this wasn’t mentioned. He was the most 3 dimensional thinking player I know.
