After being shelved for all of Super, Goten & Trunks get the spotlight for a few chapters, leaving me with the question, how far have the Saiyan Kids come since their battle with Majin Buu?

Few things I missed in the video, thanks to helpful commenters! Most of them dont change the thesis of the video but are definitely worth mentioning: -Goten also trained with Trunks of course, not just Chichi -Goten and Trunks are likely much stronger because Goku/Vegeta were already Super Saiyans by the time they were concieved -I may have misspoken "Perfect Cell" and "Super Perfect Cell" at a couple points, though I still believe by the time Super Hero rolls around, the boys are stronger than both -Lot of people have issue with Gamma 1 & 2 scaling in Super Hero. Imo there are 2 ways to look at scaling stuff, if you care about the statements, you can see them how I portrayed in the video, but if you only care about what you see on screen thats totally fine too! -I mix the Anime and Manga, again I dont think it changes much about the video but I find it fun to take from both to build a more cohesive narrative if it doesnt bring up any blaring contradictions, thats the fun of having 2 to pull from :)

Right Gotenks went SS3 and they never questioned them about it. This alone should actually make them stronger than Goku and Vegeta very soon. Because they tasted SS3 at age 8. They should be able to surpass them I mean

Supers scaling in general confuses me characters seem to just spike in power for no reason and lose power to the point of being hurt by bullets. Like krillin went from being hurt by bullets not even his child untrained self was hurt by them to forcing a universal possibly universal+ goku into using super sayan. Him slipping on rain or not seems sketchy and Master Roshi in the manga being able to fight Jiren and in the anime being able to mafuba ssb vegeta while fatigued so it's whatever nothing will surprise me anymore in this show.

Listen bro if you want to debate we can but super saiayan goten and trunks can not beat nay version of cell. Goten says trunks is stronger than him which nemans gohan and goten can’t be equals or that would imply trunk is stronger than gohan which is just not true lol. Goten and trunks as super saiayans are weaker than piccolo and 18, two character who have not surpassed perfect cell by that point lol. Goten and trunks as super saiayans are probably as strong as goku and vegeta in their base tbh. I don’t see super gotenks being stronger than kibito Kai that would be extremely inconsistent. Obviously a hypothetical ssj2 gotenks would be enough to beat him, considering saiayans have transformation that’s what gives them edge in a fusion but ssj gotenks is definitely losing to kibito Kai

That’s something I hope actually happens in canon, especially after the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament and Goku goes to train Uub. It would be awesome to see Goten and Trunks going around and doing Galactic Patrol missions in their universe and in the other universes in the multiverse and growing through tons of character development and become way stronger and more skilled than before and gain tons of skills, abilities, experience, knowledge, and new transformations and forms as Galactic Patrolmen as well as fight different villains, antagonists, and meet new characters while Goten and Trunks as Galactic Patrolmen also constantly train and get mentored by Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and other characters as well as train with Broly, the Universe 6 Saiyans, and other characters. Also like someone else said in their comment to yours, Goten and Trunks would also get the opportunity to train and get mentored by Merus.

I think closing the gap of power between a lot of characters would help the show out a lot. People love the Saiyan hybrids as well a piccolo. It feels better to see them strong and able to hold their own even if they aren't as powerful as Goku and Vegeta. Rather than tossing them weak opponents just to give the a W. It will also better prove the strength of adversaries if they defeat the side cast. Beast Gohan being defeated would come as a much greater surprise than his previous form and would better prove how much of a threat an opponent may be. Also I personally would be very happy to see Gohan making an impact and defeating more important enemy. Seeing him step in to finish off a powerful opponent who defeated Goku or Vegeta would be very fun.

Goten was learning how to fight in Kame Style from Chi Chi but he was ultimately training with Trunks as they were sparring (Trunks later revealed that to Vegeta). Goten became Super Saiyan in front of Chi Chi first though.

With Goku and Vegeta being God of Destruction-tier power it is the perfect time to give some love to the side characters with their own stuff. I'd honestly love to see them go down the route DBO did with the timeline: Tien and Krillin starting their own Crane and Turtle schools (Tien already has.), Gohan writing about ki control (Allowing him to turn his academic research into training.), that kind of stuff.

Some things to note: 1. 4:00 In the manga, Goten and Trunks never landed a hit on #18. They couldn’t touch a SUPPRESSED #18 who initially believed she was fighting an earthling. Furthermore, Goten didn’t think they could kill her. That panel was just Trunks stating a ki blast WOULDN’T kill her. Scaling them to or above #18 like you did would be wrong. 2. 6:00 #17 tamed those Cell juniors, and thus they had no killing intent when confronting Goten and Trunks. In the anime as everyone knows, #17 doesn’t kill the poachers he encounters. This is also true in the manga and in Chapter 31 he rounds up poachers and places them on a boat, telling them to never return. So it’s clear #17 has a no kill policy. In the bonus chapter where the Cell juniors make an appearance, #17 makes it clear to Krillin that he tamed the juniors to not defy rangers. This would mean that they’re trained to hold back their power as to prevent any killing of possible poachers. Even then, when they attacked Goten and Trunks they were pushing the boys back and Goten even exclaimed, “They’re too strong!” The boys aren’t Cell level.

@@windghost2 Precisely. I forgot to bring this up, but in “Yo Son Goku and his friends return!” the boys fight two aliens named Abo and Kado that are stated to be Frieza level. Tarble is the one that stated this, and as he would have no knowledge of Final Form Frieza from Namek it’s most likely he meant First Form Frieza. The boys were fighting them in base form and struggling, so they needed coaching from Gohan to push them back. Based on this, if you put them against #18 or CELL, they’re getting stomped.

It leads to a massive over-estimation of what these characters are capable of. People have to view the full picture without conveniently leaving out crucial details (such as them not being able to hit #18).

The Cell Max "feat" was to show nuance in Cell's weak point imo. It can absorb standard ki blasts. But not physical strikes or techniques that change the ki blasts property. Special beam cannon as the titular example, i would say a strong enuff Destructo Disk would have also hit the weak spot.

@@Infinity_29662 you havent made a single point yet, standard ki blasts liek kamehameha are blunt force, think a hammer of ki is coming down on someone. Dr. Gero learned how to absorb this blunt ki force with his androids back in the cell saga, which makes sense when piccolo hit Cell Max's weak point it did nothing since it was a standard blast. Techniques like Special beam canon and destructo disk change the properties of the ki blast, turning it into a drill or saw. We have been shown this in the show directly, when piccolo fired a special beam canon it cracked the barrier that was set up in the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 battles. that barrier never broke with standard ki blasts. If someone with Gohan's power used them on the cell max weakpoint, they would destroy it like it was in the film. Are you following now?? Do I need to draw a picture in crayon for you to understand?

Goten and Trunks as Gotenks actually seems only weaker based on how their body functions rather than the amount of chi they have, so it's possible Gotenks is still as powerful technically as his normal form, the energy just is going to the wrong places because the dance failed.

I think that they're currently slightly stronger than what Gohan was before he got his ultimate form. Pre Z sword training. They haven't had consistent training. Even if you count their on and off sparring sessions as training, their few fights in Super, they're not stronger than late Buu arc Gohan. Fusion or no fusion, they still have late Buu arc power levels.

Look, imma say this now, but Gohan didn’t struggle to go Super Saiyan in canon. In the manga, he did the charging up power thing and just went Super Saiyan. Hell, hate to discourage the most epic Super Saiyan transformation in all of Dragon Ball, but Future Trunks did exactly what Kid Trunks did and went Super Saiyan after powering up. There’s even a panel of Super Saiyan Future Trunks training with Future Gohan. It’s not Goten and Trunks having potential because of plot holes, it’s literally just in the plot they can go Super Saiyan super easy.

Most likely Goten sparring with Trunks is what pushed him more rather than his training with Chichi... It's just that that was the moment he was strong enough to use that power... I also feel Goku being SSJ when Goten was conceived basically gave him ssj dna... they just needed to strong enough to use it rather than Goku, Vegeta and Gohan who needed not only to be strong enough but needed that emotional boost to use that power... Basically Saiyan evolution

A theory I heard years ago is that Goten was conceived just before the Cell Games as Goku and Gohan spent the last few days on Earth taking it easy but also maintaining Super Saiyan. Goku was SS from the time he left the chamber until his death. Trunks being under Vegeta's vigorous tutelage makes sense for that early transformation but Goten might have something to do with Goku's state before being killed.

I feel like Sayain biology is so adaptive, when Goku achieved the SSJ transformation, it became easier for the others to do so as well. Almost as if it was a catalyst to boost the species chance of survival. They evolve rapidly when exposed to stronger beings, including each other. Think about it, Goku was extremely weak for a Saiyan, at the beginning of Z his power level was only 910 at the beginning of Z and this made him the strongest warrior on the planet at the time, rivaled only by Piccolo. After he met and fought Raditz ( who’s power level was substantially larger), he developed a huge increase in power after training with King Kai. Same with every other subsequent Villian. Vegeta had a power level of 18,000 when he was introduced and yet somehow he managed to jump to 32,000 then 500,000 and then 2.3million when he received the Zenkai on Namek, but this was only after his was exposed to Goku who trained in 100x Gravity. When Goku turned SSJ, in terms of timing the others weren’t terrible far behind. I think Goten and Trunks are so strong because their fathers had already achieved SSJ and it became a dominant trait from that moment on. This could also explain why the U6 Saiyans were able to adapt so fast when in the presence of Goku and Vegeta. Hence why I think it makes sense for them to be as strong as they are. Same thing happens to us. Have you ever instinctively yawned as a response to someone else yawning? Or noticed how woman who reside together sometimes undergo their menstrual cycles at the same time? Nature be crazy like that

The best theory is that if you are exposed to people with higher ki your own ki gets higher. that would explain why even humans like videl can fly with almost no prior training. saiyans due to their cells adapt more quickly to the oponent.

Goten is one of my favorites, he’s really underrated and before DBS threw scaling out the window, he 100% could have been the strongest character in Z if he got the same training and opportunity like unlocking potential like Gohan did. With no formal training he was as strong as he was which says a lot. Even Trunks got trained by Vegeta

Even despite being a year younger than Trunks who even has Royal Blood, it could be argued he still has more potential, being able to go SS 1 year before Trunks himself. At this point he’s just comedic relief, but if they actually have him a character he would be at SSB level once he was 10, he’s by far my favorite character, he deserves better. At least he still pulls women by looking at them so that’s a good flag, but just about it.

I think Goten could be even stronger than any other Sayian that ever existed for this one main reason: The fact that Goten was conceived while Goku was in his Mastered Super Sayian Grade 4 state. It is said that the more S-Cells you have the more powerful your offspring will be. So if this is also true then does this mean that Goku Jr & Vegeta Jr should be at like Jiren level in base forms? Possibly but my Goku idea is the main factor here.

I mean, Goten actually couldn't have been conceived during the days leading up to the Cell Games as that would make him at most a bit over 6 years old in the Buu Saga rather than 7. So he was conceived near the end of the three year training for the Androids; when Goku couldn't stay SSJ.

I think my point is still valid. Even if Goten was conceived before the Cell Games in the time of the 3 year training Goku did with Gohan and Piccolo then Goten should have more potential than Gohan. Goku wasn't a Super Saiyan when Gohan was conceived so the fact that Gohan has a "Rage" inside him might be due to the fact that Goku had relations with Chi-Chi, an earthling and Goku's body knew he has all this hidden power just waiting to be unlocked at some point through various levels of time and training so all that latent potential got sent to Gohan. As for Goten, since Goku clearly had the ability to go Super Saiyan whenever Goten was conceived, Goten should have a greater potential than Gohan seeing as how Goku wasn't nearly as strong before Gohan was born and at the conception of Goten Goku was a lot stronger ( a lot being an understatement), so this is why I think Goten has the ability to transform into a Super Saiyan much easier than anyone else including Kid Trunks, even he looked like he struggled with the transformation the first time we see him use it in the Gravity Room w/ Vegeta. I don't think Kid Trunks has the same potential as Goten because I'm not sure as to when Vegeta got his Super Saiyan upgrade during the 3 year training for the Androids. I also think that Gotenks unlocked Super Saiyan 3 faster because of Goten's potential. As a side note, I think the training Goten and Kid Trunks did in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber was just about non-existent. They don't appear to be any stronger than before they went in except for Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks. The individual boys don't look like they got any stronger, how can that be? I know that the Fusion Dance increases the amount of power each person has but I can believe that Gotenks can go regular Super Saiyan but not 3. Maybe Goten and Kid Trunks only trained while Fused and that's why the 2 didn't become any stronger individually. At this point in DBS they definitely need a power up, it's time. If you've read the Manga you should see the direction they're going because now they are both sayianman heros trying to save the day. I just wish they could learn more moves other than the basic Kamehameha as well as more screen time in the future.

I don't think Kid Goten and Trunk (when they first appear) are stronger or in the same level as Super Perfect Cell. That's SS2 Kid Gohan power level. Using Goten overwhelms Gohan in training and compare it to how Dabura (Super perfect Cell level) is not a good comparison. Gohan faces Goten in TRAINING while he fights all out against Dabura. I think their powel level more like ascended super saiyan 1 (NOT SSJ2 yet). But I agree, they have so much potential if plot (Toriyama) allows. Anyway, good video, Dude. Keep it up!

The Daizenshuu literally states Goten is equal to Gohan and Gohan is on par with Dabura who is on par with Perfect Cell

I remember whenever I played Budokai Tenkaichi 3 I really liked playing as trunks and goten because I liked the idea of them being the next generation of z fighters. Their potential was great and Gohan was gearing up to be a badass. Unfortunately it never happened that way in super.

I find it interesting that after Buu absorbed Gotenks and Piccolo, it was Piccolo that became the dominant one after the fusion time limit. This likely means that Piccolo was stronger than both Goten and Trunks individually who were giving untrained Gohan a run for his money.

I would guess buu take what HE lacks the most... and piccolo is very intelligent , has wisdom and strategy and tactical knowledge.. a defused goten and trunks have nothing to offer.. they are weaker than buu

My long post aside, Fusion is just too damn strong and the boys likely got a massive amp via their upped sizes to boot if all the fighting/sparring on the side wasn’t enough. But Goten’s disdain of fighting Buu at the End of Z but getting a match with Pan should put him and Trunks in Buu Saga territory since they were apparently slacking on real training even then. And Pan is only 1 birthday away from End of Z.

I always thought of Goten's early access to Super Saiyan as Goten being conceived while Goku was in his Super Saiyan form when him and Gohan were attempting everyday life as super saiyans.

When you do the Fusion wrong, you just get a poor body to utilize the power correctly-as we must recall Piccolo notes Fat Buu acquired a better body for fighting when becoming Super Buu. Fat Gotenks essentially has trash stamina (his body can hardly contain its power hence struggles going ssj), stubby limbs (Kid Goku vs Roshi / Cell vs Trunks logic) and a very easy to bruise figure (lack of harness), which would all drop his accessible power significantly. In interviews, the default Fusion is not only greater the sum of its parts (when all else fails + piccolo did not know gotenks could transform after fusion & the boys only after training are aware of their ssj3 rights unlike their battle genius fathers), but the Dance specifically is designed for battle, with Fusion also being meant to surpass Super Saiyans hence why Gogeta is the novel is so strong in base that Ss Broly had to hone his power and technique more to catch up to him and make him transform. It’s no wonder why Freeza finds fusion unfair and how Kibito Kai prior to wasting all his energy teleporting felt like he could join the fight against Super Buu/Buutenks. (Kibito Kai only getting dissed because he’d get absorbed while being weaker than Gohan & Goku) Quick note: Goku didn’t expect Vegeta to go SS2 but agreed they could beat Dabura, whom Gohan needed SS2 to fight yet was still stronger than Piccolo in base without real training over 5 years since Buu Arc… and Shin was as strong as Cell Saga Goku (like Cell Saga Gohan was cracked)

I'd say it's a bit of a stretch to include Cell in Hedo's comment about the dinosaur android, it seems more likely that he is talking about his creations only. His previous androids were human corpses ( Bayta / Beta seems different though ) this is a stitched together dinosaur corpse, one giant hunk of muscle.
