The hardest part of hanging batts is actually the height of the bays. Going up and down the ladder and repositioning the ladder just takes a lot of time. Other than that (and working with fiberglass in general), this is a pretty easy job. What do you think about unfaced insulation batts without, and then cover everything with large sheets of vapor barrier? It might save all the taping detail. But like you said, often you just have to buy what's available in your area.

That would work great. If I were to go that route I would use MemBrain smart barrier over the insulation, and if I could afford it, Rockwool insulation. That's what I do in ceilings right now, and it's debatable whether you need a vapor barrier at all with the Rockwool.

Great job! Insulating with fiberglass is a nasty, itchy job, but it is much cheaper than the alternatives. Nice to see it going up!

I'm not a big fan of it myself! Hopefully it will be over soon...

Hi Mojo, nice video as usual, I was looking at all those pokey stabby things, I thinking you have to be super careful you don't impale yourself. As you were talking about prices going through the wall, it's just the same over here, and at inflation running at 9% its frightening.

Thanks Larry! Steel prices are going up again as we speak because a lot of raw materials come from Russia. A lot of countries have "not in my backyard" laws where they push anything considered 'dirty' (mining, manufacturing, etc.) to other countries where it can't be seen, and are now paying the price. 😑

Great video sir! I am building some shelves and a workbench in my barn that only has double bubble but want to insulate the wall I will be building on in case I do insulate the entire barn. Where did you purchase those metal hanging strips?
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
If you go to the channels main page and search for "Insul-Hold" there are a few videos on using these strips, but here is the link: Insul-Hold - amzn.to/3evnmKq Good luck 😊

I just watched a video of a guy that lit the fiberglass batts paper face on fire. It burned very fast. Which is why they say it has to be covered in sheetrock.

It will be covered.

Thanks for this! What tape did you use?

Got it! Thanks also for your other related videos. We're gonna incorporate some of your techniques in a 2200 sqft pole barndominium.

Did you do the ceiling as well?
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
Yes I did - half way so-far. I insulated it with batt insulation as i installed it, and will blow-in more insulation late this fall. The playlist is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2a1gpaYrrScmM0

Comment on laying the insulation on top of the diagonal bracing. I was expecting you to cut the insulation to make a better seal and eliminate bulk.
@PlanetMojo Жыл бұрын
The seal is just fine, and a slight bump-out in that area has a better insulation value than cutting out. The extra material will be within the air gap in front of the wall. A 2" x 4" interior girt and 3/4" plywood wall goes on next.

Why not buy wide insulation instead of doing all that metal and tape that was waaaay to much bs
