Long time Def Leppard fan here. These guys still rock and they still are creative. They also have a deep respect for their fans and will always deliver a top performance as a result. I do not think there is a better interview in all of rock than Joe Elliott. His complete love for music show through in every interview. And he has to be one of the easiest interviews around since he always gives us so much more than just a basic answer.

While UFO were always me favorite have mad respect for Def Leppard. Saw them in Germany in December 83 and they headlined a Monsters Of Rock type festival. Ozzy, Priest, Scorpions, Krokus and Maiden were on the bill and heres these brash youngsters on top of the bill. They took maximum advantage of their opportunity and killed it. This performance is on youtube. It was also the gig where Maiden killed Eddie on stage as they planned to scrap Eddie. In my opinion that was the pivital moment Leppard took their spot as top of the heap in rock n roll. Was cool to witness history. That was December 18th 1983... Keith Richards birthday. Hey there, In 1988 I was driving through Denver Colorado not realizing that my all time favorite group was playing literally right there! In was February 1988, they were filming "In The Round: In Your Face". I was on my way to Louisiana to report for my two week "tour" (USAF), so I couldn't stop anyway even if I knew they were there. But I kick myself everyday knowing I was "this close" to actually seeing Def Leppard "live" which has been on my "bucket list" since high school ("Pyromania" era). I just wish they'd come to this tiny town (area) to maybe one of the casinos? Namely "Bear River Casino" in Loleta, Calif.... ((hint, hint)). Another idea I have for Def Leppard is performing in the NEW sphere in Las Vegas NV & call it "In The Las Vegas Sphere, In Your Face"? Hmmmm, I'd go!!

I like how they've kept their accents. DL found that slot which was not quite American not quite british metal and had a bit of glam rock melody. Very much a sound that was commercial radio friendly not for hard core metal fans but certainly s success
