Great Musician is Mike Rutherford as I saw Genesis & Mike & The Mechanics on many occasions over the years. He is such a nice polite & down to earth guy. I Grew up since I was a teenager in the 80's listening to his Great music especially with Genesis ❤ 💯%

Now at the age of 50, and being a professional musician for a number of years, I’ll never forget the feeling my 12 year old self felt when hearing the genius of Mike Rutherford. I didn’t fully understand it then from an artist’s standpoint, or even technically, but my soul felt every work he was a part of. Him mentioning some of his favorite songs, so many mine also. The universe definitely brings us back home, without question. This video popped up on my KZbin feed while I’m midway through writing my next album…a reminder and a nod from the muse to review what was once the past and undoubtedly having been a major influence all this time. Thank you for an amazing interview! You have a new subscriber. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

Absolutely love hearing Mike talk about all things music, especially Genesis. I, like so many others, adore Smallcreeps Day, and wish Mike could understand how much it is loved. It deserves to be re-issued, as does 'Acting Very Strange'. However, despite the 'rare as hens teeth' status of those two albums I must thank Mike for creating some of the most important and impactful music of my my lifetime.

The interviewer had to press him to discuss it though. Maybe Mike has an issue with the fact that the songs were all off-cuts from Genesis albums? For me it is one of those great 'lost' Genesis albums and gives an idea of what the band may have sounded like had Ant Phillips stayed..

Speaking of heckling, I remember Paul Young getting quite a bit of stick on the Invisible Touch Tour. I saw them at Roundhay Park in Leeds and Wembley. In particular I recall Leeds because Young eventually bit back at them, pointed them out, called them w**kers and yelled "give them their money back!". I was sceptical about him as support too, but it has to be said that it was a good performance and his band were superb, especially the Hammond player.

For as many people say they like it, I wish I could say The Lamb does anything for me. I hate having an album I purposely skip over in a band's catalog. As far as Gabriel era Genesis goes... Selling England, Foxtrot, Nursery Crime, and Trespass (in that order) are far superior for my money. Then after Selling England by the Pound comes Trick of the Tail and above. I've tried 100's of times to love The Lamb. While I do like a few songs, I can fit them on one side. It's just a bizarre album that doesn't feel like Genesis.
