Your video was good. A lot of the stuff you covered I hit on in earlier videos, but I like the perspective and seeing scythe gameplay.

Get IR for your rotary, and use thermal for the pods. You can switch visions with a simple weaponswitch for reconaisance. Incredibly handy. Plus, if you shoot pods, with all the smoke you and your target can get disoriented - so if you have to switch to your rotary, you still get the IR vision without the smoke without further click.

What I think makes the thermal better for rocket pods is that it can see perfectly fine through explosions. When killing infantry this makes it a piece of cake to track them through your roiling clouds of doom. I use the NV on my rotary to spot ground targets at slightly longer range then switch to my thermal when I get closer.

I'm actually on Medium. I switch back and forth between that and high, and you're right, there is a BIG difference. Instead of black, you see grainyness in the background.

Hold the middle mouse button to quickly pan in the direction you will boost to check if it's clear first. With practice you can do it in 0.5 sec, ensuring your survival against the most OP of weapons, cliffs.

I mean like, as a scythe pilot you know that you can get right up in their face and still maneuver around without colliding. This of course is something we do expecting the enemy to NOT accelerate, as that would only lead to them crashing into us when we're just a few degrees above their cockpit. What most reaver pilots do in that situation however, getting a close encounter kiss, is to either press their spacebar or AB, causing the collision. Who's at fault is up for debate :)

Honestly, I'm ok with them buffing the damage to the air from flak, I think that balances things fine, but buffing the strength of the Sunderers (already can soak up more damage than a main battle tank) and the turrets was probably not needed.

I used to be fairly confident in my scythes airframe but I found that especially mossies seem to have far more maneuverability. Scythes seem to be better at flying straight forward and pulling much broader turns anymore. Wasn't like that during the alpha so it was something I really had to get used to. Not complaining, just something that knocked my cockiness down a few notches. xD

1 two man team in ESF is about equal to a Lib with a Zephyr or Dalton. That seems fair though considering the Lib can hit the brakes and sit there to rain death from above while the ESF's have to be incredibly accurate. If the Lib is using the default gun, then they are out matched. I don't think ESF should be limited to A2A though. Think A-10's and Fighters with A2G missles IRL. Huge part of today's military tactics, why not in the future? I know it's a game, but just something to consider.

I personally have never bought thermal optics, I buy NV for practically every vehicle weapon and gun. That said I did have a theory about it that could make it better. Obviously the distance before things get dark and fuzzy is closer with thermal, which makes it seem like NV is better. What you couldn't see with your test, is how far you can see glowing targets. From watching videos, it looks like you can see glowing targets much farther out than where the ground turns black. Test this out. :)

That's funny, as a scythe pilot i never get rammed as much as i do by reavers. I think it's more a case of the reaver pilots underestimating their forward thrust power, when they try to punch the AB and bank off.

What controls are you using? In BF3 I was a pretty good pilot, but here, when people can change mouse sencetivity for air, I just can't keep up. I am used to wasd + arrow keys and space to fire, but people with high mouse settings can just make 180 degrees turns instantly and dominate me. I can't pitch up\down properly when I use a mouse :(

I feel ya man. I think it's a pretty even fight now between the Skyguard and the Podded out ESF. It's funny, I would feel dirty, but what other option do you have? You're cheap if you use A2AM, you're overpowered using pods! Lose lose! I love libs too though, and can't wait to get to that part of the series.

To be honest I think they should nerf rocket pods further. The ESF's main role should be as the best AA in the game, able to provide limited support on the ground, killing just a few infantry with very limited ammo of rocket pods, or killing a tank or severely harming a sunderer with lock-on AV missiles. The Liberator exists solely for A2G so it makes no sense that it's often preferable to use two ESF's with rocket pods instead of one 2-man Liberator for A2G purposes.

it depends on what you want to do with it. you can murder infantry like ants as well as 2 hit someone on a flash+destroy the flash. its good in the right situation.

I got about as many vehicle kills as you got kills. Some tips: For non stop DPS: One Rocket Clip, 2 Clips of Vortek, Rockets should be ready. If you are attacking a tank from the front.. DONT... always hit them in the ass, EZ kills. Nice video... Annnnnndddddd 1,000 more bad reaver pilots were born. It's ok, keep practicing, we need more air.

All around good video though :D I just feel gross when i use rocket pods, such a good investment compared to a skyguard (and the fact rocket pods can take out a lightning in a salvo with the skyguard unable to take out an ESF in the same >..>)

With the nose diving into a cliff, sometimes people have FPS lag and it freezes. During that time they cant do anything and before they know it, they have crashed. Or they are just newbies

I hunt scythes in my Reaver because they're usually the cockiest fighters, expecting to do well against me because of their superior maneuverability. I usually fuck them over. But I swear their pilots suicide ram to stop me getting the kill so much. In my experience they do it way more than mossie pilots. Mossie pilots usually turn and fight.

Yes well, I'll always think balance is more important in online competitive game than aesthetics. If two ESF's and a Lib can do about equal damage to ground, and the ESF's are more difficult to hit and have far superior A2A even with rocket pods equipped, then there's a balance issue and not much use for the Lib.

Really like your "Don't be a dick" tip on this one. If I ram into a cliff it's because I failed my evasive manuevers and it's never on purpose. =) But this happens so much to me it's annoying. I mean, they obviously just point down and afterburn into the ground. So much rage. >:|

i will have to rewatch, i think at some point in the video you said your reaver was the scythe, and i just said "this is reaver gameplay" because i think you said it was scythe gameplay. and yes i know that the setups are almost identical, i am an avid ESF pilot and am actually a pilot in real life.

IMO they really shouldnt have made rocket pods as strong as they are, ESFs are hard to hit, but have amazing damage to ground clearing. LIberators should be your go to air to ground. PPA for eg i feel is alot more balanced than rocket pod spraying for free kills.
