Unironically the Detonator is super useful. Just need to put a bit of time getting a hang of the projectile and gauging how high you need to aim on the fly. A tip for lining shots up from reaaaal far is use the UI elements to keep track of how high you were aiming. Sometimes using ability cooldown tracker at the bottom for real far shots lmao. The tricky part about using it isn't finding the perfect spot to spam, and the small adjustments. It's finding a spot that you aren't going to get easily flanked at, because your only REAL option for fighting infantry is your melee attack. Nothing better than getting Indar and sitting hundreds of meters out and above a fight, spamming explosions onto them. S(ituational) tier, because you don't always get a good spot to use it. Edit: It can often kill vehicles because they don't know where they're getting hit from. If you get 2-3 followups it CHUNKS. If they keep moving you can try to gauge their escape and get a lucky last hit.

Awesome tierlist! Although you missed the aspect of psychological warfare of the anti-air defector. The constant lock-on beeping drives me insane as pilot, even if the many missiles are easy to dogde or outrun. Makes me not recognize lock-ons from more potent lock-on launchers. And there is the bug where the beeping will continue until either death or leaving the vehicle.

absolutely, there aren't much aa defector on soltech, but i always panick from getting10x lock-ons all the sudden from dervish's pixie

Lots of people joke about how bad the Defector Hummingbird is as AA but that is only because most pilots do not stay around to get hit by it, unlike the different flak weapons that they happily bathe in for a few seconds before zooming away. Hummingbird actually has a lot higher DPS against a ESF than a dual Burster MAX. The issue is that ESF can fly away from the Hummingbird and not get hit but thats about the same effectiveness that a Burster MAX has, usually the ESF will simply fly away from them too but a ESF that stays long enough to be killed by a Burster would definitely be killed by a Defector with Hummingbird as well, almost twice as fast even. Hummingbird is also imo better than the normal Grenade printer against infantry, you need a similar number of hits to kill with both and both are garbage against infantry with splash defense but Hummingbird has like 3 times faster projectile velocity making it easier to hit stuff with it.

With the last update on the Hummingbird, this weapon actually become a long range bombard weapon. After a few seconds the projectile is released, it will accelerate and fly in a straight line, meaning that you can send endless barrage to your enemies from a long distance. Also Hummingbird can lock on ground vehicles, although it is not effective against tanks, it can be good to deny fast vehicles like harassor and flash. Most of the time you cannot shoot down aircraft with it, but the lock-on warning can still drive them away. As for defectors in a tunnel fight, seriously it is a farming machine. Just look around from time to time when you are cooling down, it is not that easy to be sneaked by C4 as you are more mobile than regular Maxes. I got my highest kill streak on Ascent with a defector, 78 kills and that was a really crazy experience!

The hummingbird can lock on armor, so it can be pretty good against slow tanks, mostly just harassment though

I love the detonator, i think it scales up to 1k damage and can just do a shitton if you sit on a hill or ontop of something like the ascent, its like the skorpion, use the time bomb with it to panic spam a fuckton of shots into something if you really need it, as well as shooting 2, waiting a small bit to get 1 heat vooled off then shooting 2 again since it only checks if you have any ammo at all. That said it should just get an extra shot or shoot earlier rather then the delayed version, it'd be good close range because you can m1 and melee to quickkill and with detonator it's no selfdamage.
