I just found you. You make such good sense. Thanks for getting right to the point, and clearly as well.

Great video. You guys should talk about this in your boat reviews. Talking about the pluses and minuses honestly shouldn’t piss off manufacturers too much..

Thanks, Timothy. We don't do a lot of video boat reviews at the moment, but we'll certainly keep that in mind if we do. We do try to mention hull types when we do new boat roundups in BoatUS Magazine, but maybe we need more info rather than a passing mention. I don't think it's something a lot of folks think enough about but is an important consideration for finding the right boat. Appreciate you watching and for your excellent feedback!

ohh man, I desperately wanted you to talk about round bilge boats with a keel, so close!

There is a "war" in the water between displacement (hulls that sit in the water) versus buoyancy (objects that sit upon the water) with the "friction" being that displacement offers (in theory) more control or "sea-keeping" whereas buoyancy is all about the performance ("atomizing the water.") Great boat designs offer the best of both *"AS A HULL"* and always starts at the bow not stern ("plum bow versus catarman missing bow" for modern boat "physics of now.")

What would be a good example of a great hull in a small boat? Thabks
@toivomyllyla87767 ай бұрын
Your comment makes no sense at all. Displacement is the amount of water the hull displaces when stationary, in fresh water this water is equal in mass with the boat itself. Buoyancy is the hydrostatic pressure force which equals the weight of the boat, this keeps the boat floating. One is a representation of volume or mass and the other is a force acting on the hull. They are not "in war" nor are factors that define seaworthiness or performance. And what on earth is "atomizing water" supposed to mean?

Today's modern catamarans usually have a planing Hull... A true catamaran runs through the water... Not on top of it... 'Nuff said!!!... Dwight. Good Seamaritan Rescue... Good stuff, thanks for posting.

@@dwightbernheimer331 That's what Lenny has and we shoot many of our videos on. I know WorldCat bought the GB brand, but I just noticed it stopped making those models. Not to depress you further, but here's a link to Lenny's article on his total refit a few years ago if you haven't seen it: www.boatus.com/expert-advice/expert-advice-archive/2020/february/lessons-learned-from-refitting-an-old-boat. He's since replaced the T-Top with one that has a seat, as well as a few other things. I really enjoy going out on it, especially for shooting (and maybe wetting a line or two while we're at it!). Plenty of room to move around and super stable and comfortable.

I'm looking for a Center Console boat. What do you recommend?
@boatus2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question, Spark. It's really impossible for us to make a recommendation since we don't know how you do your boating and what the best fit will be. The best advice we can give is to try to assess how you enjoy time spent on the water (fishing, cruising, etc; what sort of weather you plan to go out in, how large the waterways you boat in are likely to be, how many people you plan to bring, and so on) and then look at and sea trial lots and lots of boats until you find one that seems like a good fit. Also, you may want to check out the "Find Your Boat" page at Discover Boating (discoverboating.com). It lets you check off some boxes, then makes general recommendations.

Thanks for your honest feedback, geoff. Was there something you were hoping to learn that we didn't cover? If you can be more specific, we can try to add this to our list of future topics.
