I have sat down with all of my sticker books and pulled out the sheets I will not use. Then I pulled out my not outdated planners. I organized them into sets like school/fitness/productive/childish and put them into bundles, and donated it to a women's shelter. I hope it brought some people joy.

I said no to Happy Planner and Erin Condren this year...and I feel freee!...I was following fomo for years, I finally stopped. I got my Filofaxes and my travelers notebooks with diy inserts, blank copy paper and PPC Printables for creative outlet, love it.

Totally agree! My mother-in-law tried to be helpful one year and gifted me 11 HP of all sizes n styles, all clearanced. None were the dashboard I used. So was slowly giving away or using them for non planners. 2020 was the non existence need to plan and now I'm too busy for more than a basic weekly /no decorations. I live vicariously by listening to Cindy's videos while working.

So freaking glad you mentioned Cloth & Paper. I've been using rings for almost 9 months now. I have become GREAT at resisting purchasing items that I don't need because I'm super picky about colors (no pink), fonts, designs (no hearts), etc. But damn you Cloth & Paper with your gorgeous neutral colors and designs. I'm also cheap, and her stuff isn't, so that's the only thing I have going for me. Also she doesn't have a "favorites" feature on her website, and I'm so damn thankful because I forget about what I like when I go to her website 8 times a week :D

As part of the "mom community" on the internet, I have had Rae Dunn shoved into my life from every angle. As someone with an aversion to popularity, I have never been interested. Now that I have transitioned into the planner community (kinda), I see the Rae Dunn stationary/organization stuff and I am tempted. I lol'd at your Comic Sans burn. I recently received an email from a work colleague that used Comic Sans, and I low-key judged her for it. ETA: I am now avoiding all new releases from Simply Gilded, Once More With Love, and The Coffee Monsters Co. I've thrown down $$$ in those shops already this year before realizing that I was a victim of FOMO. Yes, I love the designs I bought and will use the heck out of them, but the FOMO got to me before logic could slow me down.

And not to be too judgy, simply gilded has become of repeat of designs. It seems like it’s the same shade of pink and purple with bows, as much as I love me some bows, I’m kind of tired of it. I don’t know if you remember October’s monthly box (it was the Scandinavian design) but that box is the only one that has been “different” from the rest and it made my heart sing. But yeah, not to diss simply gilded but it’s something I might stop even though I love the monthly box.

I think comic sans gets a bad wrap. I don't use it often, but I do have friends and coworker who do because they are dyslexic and it helps them dusting "d" from "b". It certainly doesn't work for everyone and certainly doesn't "fix" their dyslexia, but it's worth a shot for those who struggle.

Happy Planner just came out with these “plan your sticker layout” things that I think are so freaking pointless! Like just put the stickers directly onto your planner and peel ‘em off if you hate it that much. So that’s something I won’t be buying But also stickers in general. I do not need more sticker books is going to be my mantra until I use at least half of my collection up. I feel so dumb every time I come home with a sticker book knowing I have a crapload sitting here untouched already. So much wasted money.

Since I started looking for a 2020 planner I have been dodging all A5 and B-whatever the fk size because I know they are stunning and beautiful and shiny and they all look so luxurious buttttt I know damn well my giant handwriting has no business in a cute tiny shiny planner. I have been drooling over the Kikki Ks and Cloth and Paper I truly love the aesthetic and love watching other ppl use them, but I will stay in my Happy Planner lane where my handwriting fits just right. I even considered the LV knockoff Belinda Selene has and I was getting ready to purchase that and make it pretty with Cloth and Paper inserts but I caught myself going down the rabbit hole and stopped myself. The struggle is real to saying no to cute shiny things. Stay Strong!!

Fountain pens. I really want to believe that I am the type of person that journals with a fancy fountain pen that glides over the paper in such a sexy and vintage feeling. I have four. Two inked up and i have had to clean them out twice because the ink dried up in the barrel. But do I keep looking and Goulet pens and other websites of the sorts? You bet your sweet ass I do. Thanks god I only have lamys and a pilot metropolitan. If I had bought a Visconti or an Edison Nouveau and they were sitting there I would be kicking myself to the end of days. Preach! I got sucked into the fountain pen thing big time a few years ago and also have a Lamy Safari and some Pilot Varsities. Then my arthritis flared up so my handwriting is going downhill and I am so thankful I didn't bother investing in a more expensive pen and inks I have nowhere to store.

I went with C+P this year and learnt my lesson - got a whole $50+ worth of daily dated inserts. I was so taken with the clean lines and space. There are no monthly spreads, no tabs between months and the pages are dated without the day itself listed which might not seem like a problem but it’s actually really annoying. I can’t tell when Monday is unless I go look at the monthly spread (which I bought separately) because it’s not printed on the daily pages. I had to have dividers made - because there weren’t any for the HP classic size on their website. So as much as I love the look, I might not return to C+P next year for my whole planner - it’s been a frustrating interaction between me and this planner so far. I’m also so burnt out from just looking a happy Planner’s stuff that I feel no compulsion to buy - it’s too much, too much is happening, I feel very saturated and wasteful even thinking about buying new stuff.

Archer and Olive notebooks. Like you said the craft ones they came out with are super cute but I'm on the same boat when I say I HATE for gel pens to dry, especially on black paper because I smudge all the time even with regular pens. But recently, my friend bought both a blackout and kraft paper notebook and while I steal pages from her notebooks time to time, holy hell I'm glad I didn't buy them with my own money because I would've just hated myself. I relate so much to you. I also have a chant of "I do not need a new planner" on repeat every time I pass one in any store. And I have a tote bag collection. I have justified getting a new one by calling my overabundance of bags a "collection." But now I have no room for more so I need to stop. These videos have been hugely helpful for me. I started bullet journaling at the end of 2018 and I watched so many videos and there were so many people using so many different pens and notebooks and art supplies, I felt like I needed to buy them all. Now I have all these pens and things that I almost never use and I keep seeing things and want to buy them but I remind myself that chances are they're just going to end up sitting on my desk and never get used.

This video is SUCH a good reminder of everything I need to implement for myself. I have so much SHIZ that I don't really use. Hell, I'm using 2 planners (1 vertical and 1 hourly) --> my vertical is my "pretty planner" and my hourly serves as the timeblocked version of my vertical...is that even necessary?! I DON'T KNOW... and then I use a bunch of notebooks and guided journals, and I'm like bruh what is going on. I use them so sporadically. And then....heaven forbid I bought something from the new HP collection, an 18 month horizontal as a reading log! I'm going crazy!

My gel pens dry out like crazy. I have the blackout but I usually loose my gel pens. So I use metallic markers and gel pens when I can find them or when they work.

so nice to hang out with you on sunday! i bought a lot of stickers.. but i kept myself from (mostly) buying anything else. and then i won a door prize on sunday.. also.. i see from the comments i missed a presale for simply gilded. i WOULD have gotten that.. so that is good. also.. i am trying really really really hard to not buy a new planner. i bought a colorful EC in december ( i like color.. i just like to pick it... ) and im making myself wait till academic planners come out to get a neutral one.

Back in the day we had sticker albums. They were photo albums with the tacky side and plastic sheets that peeled off.

I also did not buy the HP botanicals box. I love the florals but have loads of sticker books that I don’t use now as I find Kits are my sweet spot for wanting to decorate and not spending too much time doing it. As for punched inserts and your love of coils I kept thinking of PlanWithLaken turning her EC softbound into a coiled book. Maybe next year you could create your own planner.

Before this year, i used happy planner but hated all the 2020 planners so I'm using a recollections family planner for the first time. HP came out with sticker guides and I am resisting running to Michael's! and buying it.

That RD font does seem like comic sans to me too!!! Oh my goodness! The number of times I picked up a popular mug and put it down. I was only tempted to buy it because of the hype. I felt ridiculous! And I'm definitely starting to feel like that with each new HP release now. It's almost starting to turn me off.

I really really want an Aura Estelle cloud ring A5 binder but I don’t need one. I love the EC and that’s what I use. It has been so hard not buying one. They are gorgeous!

ANY journals! I love paper products so much. I don’t have too many now because I quit buying them until I used all I had. I am going to try and only buy journals and note pads one at a time and not until I have almost used up the previous one.

OMG!!!! I am sooooo happy I am not alone in this!!!! I want ALL the things!!! However I also feel that if I get ALL the things and don’t use them I will ABSOLUTELY regret it and because I found you early on when I joined the planner community I have been able to only have 1 planner and 1 subscription that I truly love AND use! Thank you Cindy for help keeping me in check even though you did not know and I actually have planner peace and feel very lucky that I do, I think a lot of it is due to the fact I try and not fall into the fomo cycle and I thank you for that! ❤️💕

I had the urge to buy another planner so I went to Daiso and found a planner with watercolors. I unbound the paper from the wire binder, cut the paper to fit an Oberon leather binder (thriftstore find). And viola, a low cost planner with pretty pages and leather cover. But, gosh darn, the price of sticker decoration killed the element of 'low cost'.

I love your channel! I started watching last week and I can't get enough. I am okay with not buying things for the new release times and the sales (unless they are 80% off). My hang ups arrive when the clearance happens. 🤦‍♀️ I have gotten a lot better with saying no to myself, but I'm often doing that muttering thing you described.
