Thank you for the video on planning aims. Having gone through a few of such videos posted on KZbin, I noticed that different CELTA trainers identify, interpret and write the main, subsidiary and personal aims of a lesson differently. Some of them have even more aims on their list of aims. As a consequence, the outcome of a lesson, no matter how 'accurate' one may consider their aims to be, is subject to the person looking at the lesson.

All these lessons in one class or what.. The nature of this book is very different from books I experienced in my cirriculum.. So I ask here Must I take a look of all the collective lesson then devide them into grammar, vocabs, speaking and so on to teach them in devided and different class? Am I right or missed something?

It depends on how much time you have. In a 45 minute lesson we expect one main aim and one sub-aim. In a two hour lesson, you may have two aims and two sub aims.

Considering that all course books have teachers' handbooks, where all this is set out for you, l did find that this was a very pointless exercise when I did my CELTA. We were actually instructed on the final day of the course to "let the course book do ALL the work".

Excellent question my friend, it is true thar teacher’s books would give you all that. However if you want later to develop your own material, then it is very important to be able to decide on your aims before this. Think also about stage aims, if you do not understand your stage aims, it becomes so difficult to provide the right activities when developing your own material. So you can say that this type of focus will prepare you for more independent usage of material in the future and also set your foot on the road towards designing material which is the focus of a level six certificate such as the CertPT.

@@Britishey I agree. I already had experience of creating my own teaching materials before doing the certificate. However, I think you explained this aspect a lot better than I experienced on my course. 👍 I am not a great fan of working with text books alone and was quite disturbed by what they told us on the final day.
