Your family looks so wonderful 🙂 And it's great you take the kids into preparing the foods, so they know what they eat, and learn to cook and feed themselves. Really great! That "spinach in smoothie" trick is also great. I would like to say something about children's diet. Children eat what their parents eat. I used to be really picky with my food when I was little, but I decided already as a teenager, that I wouldn't forward that "bad habit" to my children, and I would eat what I wanted my children to eat from the day they were born. There are some things that taste "bad" for children when they are small, (like cabbages) and of course, they shouldn't be eating things they are intolerant or allergic to, so one needs to be mindful of those, but other than that - children eat what their parents eat. Also, small children will not starve when there's food available. It will not harm them if they skip a couple of meals, so don't give in to the whining that they want pizza or chicken nuggets or what ever it is they want in stead of the food the rest of the family eats. One thing about that, though. Don't make eating and food a bad experience. If your child doesn't want to taste a new thing, let them not taste it. Don't make them something else to replace it (unless they genuinely think it tastes bad, or have allergy issues), but see that there is enough familiar food they like on the table so that they don't need to choose between going hungry or eating things they don't want to eat. That is how you give your children eating disorders and confirm their negative attitudes about food. Like, if you introduce a new pasta sauce, the kids should be able to eat the pasta as it is without the sauce, or eat a bit of bread if they don't want to eat the soup. Or just eat the potatoes from the soup, and so on. All the meals should be eaten with the parents, so that the kids learn proper table manners and their eating is not the focus of the event. Even the pickiest kids could taste something they see others eating and when the food refusal doesn't become a show.

My best advice is start with the stuff they like. If your kids like apples give them those and try to get them to eat them several ways (cooked, whole, cut) if they like Olives give them those. Start with the ones they like and then introduce small amounts of stuff that is new (typically it takes 15-20 introductions for a food to be accepted and become normal) it also doesn't hurt to make it tasty to get them interested. If they eat carrots with ranch that's better than no carrots. If they're older have them help cook and add in some "hidden veggies" they will notice it goes into the food but it's not visible in the final product so it can help with acceptance. I find my kiddo is much more likely to try stuff they have helped make. Anyway hope those tips help!

How funny! He must be a handsome guy 😉. We started taking turns so each kid and parent have their day. They get to make the decisions (i.e. prayer, what book to read before bed, what game to play, etc). It really helps with decision fatigue from having to choose which kid gets to decide all the time. It also helps minimize fights 😆

I struggled with the same thing when we first started. There is just not a lot of information or help for transitioning kids. It takes a lot of time and grace (especially in the beginning). Their tastebuds do change!! The important thing for us was talking to them about why we eat this way. They are way more in tune with how food affects their body than I ever was growing up. They start to own it for themselves.

@shtroizn3 жыл бұрын
2 tsp of sugar divided between 4 kids is no big deal. If it helps them enjoy the food and eat it it's definitely worth it. Also - coconut sugar is healthier than processed sugar and lower on the glycemic index.
@SavoyPrimeable3 жыл бұрын
Children need bioavailable protein and fat sources for proper growth. I’m sorry, but this is wrong. If you want them plant-based, have them go plant-based after they’re fully developed. ALA omega 3 (plant omega 3) does not convert into bioavailable DHA well. I’m not hating, just concerned for vegan children. B12 supplementation is also required.
@1221solstice20123 жыл бұрын
Please stop that; they and their kids are obviously very healthy. They use fortified nutritional yeast shown at the popcorn part of the video, which is loaded with B12 and may use another B12 supplement too. Personally I use only unfortified nutritional yeast because it's healthier and has no unhealthy folic acid (folate is what we need). With their own home garden they can also get B12 from a bit of good soil residue on their food when eaten raw. Your "concern" needs to be elsewhere, at McD's and KFC, etc., where kids get going at a young age on their obesity, heart disease, etc. As far as "bioavailable"; that's mostly nonsense. This family's and mine and countless others get their nutrients absorbed perfectly. It involves cooking to tenderness in some instances, and chewing well in others, etc., it's not rocket science. Foods from the Earth are awesome. While slaughterhouses, manure lagoons, animal concentration camps, etc., are truly deplorable. And you don't provide bloody carcasses etc. to 8 billion people without those.
@maddiekits2 жыл бұрын
Most children are actually somewhat low in Omegas and B12, so most people should be supplementing it not just vegans.

this diet has been extensively studied in children and there is no notable health impacts of it. Milk and animal proteins are associated with many negative health effects for children this age, milk consumption in early adolescence drastically increases your lifetime risk of breast and prostate cancers for example, while not being shown to decrease bone fractures and in very young children can cause anemia and reduced brain development that can never be recovered . Diet caused risk factors for heart disease also start at around 10, animal sources of protein are one of the main contributors to this along with processed foods.
