His article 'comparative anatomy of eating' was the first Google result when I typed 'humans are..' back when I was curious why I was suffering IBS and cholesterol-related issues and was expecting to see 'humans are omnivores' but it came up with his article and the rest is history. Besides the great benefits to your health there are great benefits to your wallet. Being whole food plant based is cheaper than eating meat and dairy. Cheaper food, lower medical costs, and a clear conscious for not murdering animals to eat them. These are just a few of the benefits of a whole food plant based diet.

Same here I used to get sick every Spring and fall like clockwork and that completely vanished since 2011 when I went vegan. I even had my blood work done right before I went vegan because I got so bad I was weazing and the doctor wanted to make sure I didn't have something wrong with my lungs. So I was able to compare my blood work Before & After going vegan. The results have been amazing and I haven't been sick since and if I was it was so mild I didn't notice. And the 1st 5 years all I did was stop eating animals I didn't add anything new or do anything else different.

For those wanting to know about beans, if cooking them from dry beans it also helps to add a little vinegar to the beans not a lot, but the vinegar can help cut down on the Oligosaccharides that cause the gas. Usually with beans it’s how they are prepared. Dr. Mills is doing great things with trying to help others change their diet and lifestyle.

I happened upon this video mid of 2023. I’m a few yrs into a Rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. I’ve never been ill a day in my life before this nightmare. It has caused chronic inflammation and arthritis that make me limp when I walk. My ankles, feet, knees and hips were deforming, unbearable to stand or sit, ironically,for a long time and hard to sleep at night. I had been slim most of my life, the picture of health and what many have described as an enviable shape, but in the last 10 yrs ballooned up to 240lbs on a 5’4 frame. I cried after watching this because the story of his patient that fully recovered gave me hope that I could turn my health around. Finally! I’ve made many mistakes, experimented with many dishes that’s I’ve hated and have “cheated” numerous times lol but I kept going. It’s March 2024 now and I can honestly say plant based vegan for the win! I used to panic at the thought of no meat or dairy, what would I eat?! My favorites were fried chicken, pizza and lasagna. The answer is so many things. Half of my diet is raw in the form of a daily green smoothie and a daily salad, the rest are two cooked vegan meals. It’s so easy to swap my favs for vegan alternatives but I try not to eat a lot of the fake processed mess. I’m in shock how easy this is and that change in diet made such a significant difference. I was skeptical. I barely miss animal products. Full disclosure, that I also made the personal choice to stop taking prescribed anti inflammatory medication when I changed my diet because I felt they were blocking my body’s natural ability to repair itself. I was right but don’t recommend doing that without consulting your physician! Luckily stopping didnt adversely affect my heath and there weren’t a lot of detox symptoms! I’m seeing my health improving daily! The pain and limp are almost resolved, digestion is working great, no longer have morning breath or odor when I sweat and I’ve lost 60lbs. The list is long of observed changes. I can’t thank you enough for posting this video. I watch it every month or so to keep motivated as well. One last thing. I’ve refused double knee replacement for years and feel the way I’m improving I soon shouldn’t need it. I can’t wait to see my Ortho later this year to see if I’ve moved out of the candidacy for the surgery. Sorry for the extremely long post lol, but if someone is reading this in chronic pain, putting their life and what they enjoy on hold and feel trapped in their body, please just try this change in diet. You owe it to yourself and shouldn’t regret it.

A whole foods plant based diet really is the solution to humanity's greatest health concerns and perhaps as years and decades go by and a plant based diet becomes more streamlined, as well as our scientific understanding of plant based nutrition grows, heart disease, cancer among other diseases will become an ancient relic of the past. Naturally, there will always be people who do not care and will eat themselves to death, but nothing can be done about that.

It's all about eating a variety of beans greens grains fruit veggies mushrooms nuts seeds herbs and spices. My favorite resource is the daily dozen app by nutritionfacts.org. And it's really easy to Google those categories I mentioned and find whole plant food recipes without having to buy a book. Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, PETA, Forks Over Knives, Vegan Outreach, etc. Have Kickstart programs with recipes. Doctor Greger has the How Not to Die cookbook. My wife has a whole bunch of cookbooks but I can't remember what they're called right now and I'm about 1500 miles away from home lol but I imagine others may chime in.

Carolyn, check out your library catalogue. I cook a mixture of beans (pulses) and a grain like brown rice, barley or freekah; say half a cup of each. I then grate purple cabbage, capsicum, carrot & crumble raw cauliflower into the mix. Toss with a home made vinaigrette. I crush a few mixed nuts with a mortar & pestle & add that. For a warm alternative I cook onions, garlic, tomato, zucchini and capsicum with tofu cut into small pieces. Add herbs as taste suggests. Hopefully that inspires & delights and you enjoy the adventure as much as I am!!

Lizzo is also vegan and she does predominantly raw vegan videos for her vegan diet. In Ayurveda there are different dosha’s and they are Vata, Pitta and Kapha and Lizzo as well as Dr. Mills would be Kapha in their body types. So vegans can come in all shapes and sizes and are probably closer to their natural dosha compared to those who are eating incorrectly.

A plant based diet does work for everyone, in one way or another. We all share the same physiology and by extension a species specific diet. That is a fact, even if you need to supplement due to underlying medical issues.
@VeganLinked

I have yet to find any evidence that any one individual out there cannot be vegan. It's easy to assume that genetics determine our fate but I haven't seen evidence of that either in respect to our diet and lifestyle behaviors. Sure somebody may have a sensitivity or allergy or trouble transitioning because of their metabolic pathways having adapted to a less healthy lifestyle. But the saying is "genes load the gun, lifestyle pulls the trigger", epigenetics... Ultimately though, whether or not someone else can do this has no relevance to what you can do though. People saying "we are all different " is just an excuse to not be responsible and accountable for their own actions. Sure there may be some anomalies out there like a genetic abnormality causing someone to pee out too much of a certain amino acid we normally would synthesize endogenously requiring them to compensate with an exogenous source. But this is a rare exception to the rule and again has no relevance as to what people generally are capable of and benefit most from. And even in this rare outlier the person could simply supplement that amino acid and then eat whole plant foods exclusively to benefit from this lifestyle and make it more likely their offspring will build even more genetics traits towards plants, like vegetarian allel, enabling future generations to more easily have even more success with plant exclusive eating. This is no excuse for you to eat body parts, organs, and secretions.

This talk has nothing to do with racism so why are you even going there? Perhaps staying focused on the message is a better way to view this. For the record, I have had some really awesome, profound, unfiltered, unfettered conversations with this beautiful, brilliant man and I'm white and we did talk about racism. Milton has long made it clear he is an "ethical" vegan. I have plenty of other doctors on my channel that are more into personifying this if that's what you need. Vegan is not a diet, it is a philosophy. The healthiest way of eating is a well planned whole food plant based vegan way eating. And to me this is the most vegan. As for this man's disposition and phenotype, some people are more husky endomorph type like Dr Mills. He's a short, bulk guy. If he ate exactly like me he would probably never appear as trim and fit as me even still. He also suffered a severe car accident that rendered him almost non ambulatory. Furthermore, he has shared that he enjoys processed vegan foods for their convenience and that he hires a cook to come in when his family stays. He also works third a lot and travels a lot doing talks. And he's very studious which are things that can make it harder to burn as many calories. But, he has unstoppable energy.

@@VeganLinked Thank you for this quick response. Your explanation is valid and I suspect that he would give me a similar explanation I just wish he would. I am concerned about your reference to processed vegan foods. I was under the impression that when I go vegan everything is all good. I wouldn’t have to worry about anything being processed. In response to your mention of people on your website being in better shape and looking physically better than me, I assure you that that is true. That’s the reason I am interested in becoming a Vegan. To be healthy internally and to look physically fit. Who’s processing Vegan food? Isn’t anything sacred anymore?
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked 9 ай бұрын
Processed vegan food is most likely corporations trying to exploit the philosophy and that's fine since it's something more for nonvegans especially who don't care about convenience and/or prefer being hyper satiated more than health. And while I think processed foods are less ideal to be considered vegan for many reasons they still are vegan and fine and something I even indulge in from time to time. Although I would rather ultimately have a more sterile environment away from it all. @@FASTO1

And Dr Mills, considering everything he's gone through in life and still deals with today, he is probably the healthiest he could possibly be under these circumstances and he's significantly older than a lot of my friends who are already dead decades younger.
