Plant chores and chit chat 🥂 moss poles, repots, and growth updates

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🍾
I thought I'd ring in the new year with those of you who might be cozying up at home (like I always do on new years) and do some plant chores with you! In this video I check on plants in my plant room and repot a few anthuriums, get a couple of philodendrons on to moss poles, and chat about a whole lotta nothing 😀

It’s never too late to watch Game of Thrones! The quality and story generally holds up so well. It’s on my top 5 best shows ever. You’ll get sucked in, I promise ☺️ and the watch House of the Dragon 👌 Lord of the rings is the most epic thing ever made…can’t think of anything more epic, so definitely recommend watching those too.

Would you ever consider making a video about anthurium prices and what you consider "a good deal" or what you spend on your anthuriums? It's okay if not - I just get overwhelmed by some anthurium prices and I never know if it's a "good deal" or not. I've bought from Kartel Daun before and I'm on FB plant purges. The anthurium world is just overwhelming sometimes haha.

Thank you for double upload month, we will miss them! Your tea tasting bit at the end was so nice and genuinely interesting, just like your coffee q n a video! Would you be open to doing more of those tea tastings or something like that? Even if its in the middle of a repot and you make yourself a tasty beverage? Or if you ever upload more, maybe you can have some more kitcheny / barista / beverage stuff, which will also give you more things to talk about if you feel like you don't have enough to say :P Obviously up to you! I’m really not that calculated or “dialled in” with my ferts, I mainly use TPS One every watering but will sometimes switch it up to cal mag, microbial/myccorhizal inoculant, or silica when I feel like it’s been a while. I don’t think it’s valuable enough information to dedicate an entire video so I usually just mention it whenever I remember haha!

Ohhh what a coincidence that same with me here love coffee and plants at the same time, the only difference is that i work as an AST & Barista at the same time for a specialty roastery in Kuwait. I directly applying in CA but can not find a direct employer though for a specialty cafe.

Ahh it’s definitely tough unless you’re in the country! Sometimes it can help to get SCA certification in your home country to show you’re legitimately interested/qualified and to get the conversation started, but visas can be tough. Good luck!!!

The lack of hype around the bicolor is sad. My leaves are pretty narrow and are starting to hang well. For me,, the roots are small, and it does love its pole. I need to get a picture of my bicolor on my Instagram.

Emergent leaves are the best part of this hobby 🙌🙌 When the color of new leaves is special/unique, it’s amazing. I am obsessed with my Anthurium longissimilobum new pink leaves. Happy new year alice! When you showed the Rooibos tea I flipped my lid! I never see South African stuff on KZbin, so that felt so special! You probably know that Rooibos tea is from South Africa. I drink it all the time, it's the tea everyone drinks here, although coffee culture, especially speciality roasters in my city, is huge - I'm sure you'd have a field week trying different cups in Cape Town! Happy 2nd Christmas to you all. Hope you have a great 2024. Being from the UK and living in Minnesota I have noticed more and more less interested in celebrating either holiday with family. When I first came over here in 1983 I tried to create the Christmases I remembered we had as I grew up. Maybe ever tossing in a little from my time in the military. When we had kids we tried to mix the best from both the US and UK to give them something different than their school friends. When Grandkids started to show up I realized trips to Grandma's/Grandpa's house was just as exciting for them as it was for me. But now, even with plans and invites made back months ago, still less and less of them actually show up. So again this year it was just the two of us. I just realized that this is not just how Christmas has been for the last 3-4 years, but almost all holidays. I didn't decorate for Halloween this year and had done less and less for Christmas for the past few. It may be me being "an old fart". But I still feel that when you agree to plans a couple month ahead, you shouldn't wait till the last moment til say you're not coming. I know thing and go wrong and things happen, but when it's obvious you weren't going to come or help in the planning, then be polite and say so at the start. (sorry didn't mean for this to become a rant) Happy New Year, I hope you have 365 new days, with 365 chances, to bring you 365 new beginnings.

Quiet for us, no one showed up, (told you they wouldn't). Did get some texts from old Army mate around 6pm (midnight in UK). That was about it. Didnt realize it was past midnight until 12:10am. I have binged the hobbit and lord of the rings movies the last week. They are awesome!
