Great video, my question, does the time of year matter when trying to root new plants-Zone 5-6?

I did my first attempt last weekend. I'm going to try some more this weekend so they will be staggered. Trying Sweetspire and forsythia. Thanks!

How much water would you say you spray on the plastic every other day? Or how would I know I should put water in there.

I love Edward Goucher Abelia, with their burgandyish pinkish color in the leaves. I can't find them anymore at my garden centers and what they do have are more of a yellow-orangish color in the leaves which doesn't go with my other plants. I will have to try to find some around town and take a few cuttings and give this a try. I haven't rooted anything in the last fifteen yrs., so the refresher is of great help. Thank you!

Do you know how to propagate Southern Wax Myrtles by any chance?

Have you ever rooted in vermiculite? I have a bag of some, I can’t remember why I even bought it, and it says on the bag it can be used for propagation. Just wondered what else I can do with it.

It will work, but you might want to cut it with pinebark to help it drain a little

Hi Jim. Do you have to use the hormone to get the cuttings to root?
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
No, but it does typically give you more uniform rooting

Jim also some people say that it's a clone some say just put it into the ground if it's genetically strong it will produce roots on its own what's your opinion?

Jim, I've got a lovely Major Wheeler lonicera that I want to take cuttings from. Would you handle that the same way as the abelia? It basically never stops growing here (7b Wake Forest, NC).
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
Exactly the same and they should root pretty fast.
