Really depends from what POV do you see his decision. On one hand, he's selling it because it no longer makes money... OR He is forced to sell it because the government ran out of money to run it properly due to the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis which screwed over A LOT of plans by the Government to improve the country...

I wonder if Iliganons still remember the "steel robots" that used to be in Iligan City up until the retrenchment of the late 1990's see them all scrapped. There are two robots: the one inside the NSC compound itself (right by the Staff House near the Gym) that used to be the spot where the NSC gave out annual Christmas gifts to the children of their workers, and another that used to be prrsent every Fiesta and was paraded around...

Actualy im the son of Mr. Orlando Maglinao he knows everything about NSC but he just died on Easter Sunday early morning at 3:30 am 😥🙏 so sad .. i think they dont give up till na makabangon ang NSC

Multi-layered but the consensus is that the government has no money left to run the place properly thus were forced to sell it (people threw flak at FVR for doing so but given the choice between hours long interruption and delayed paying of salaries or more expensive steel but everyone at least have a chance to keep their jobs, he made a difficult choice) and the foreign folks that bought the place ran it worse than the government...

@@latagawcagayan5566 kaya nga. Noong nawala ang NSC dahil kay Pang. Fidel "Boy Benta" Ramos, manufacturing declined. Three car factories (Ford, Honda, and Nissan) closed down while some appliance manufacturers like Conception-Carrier imported some of their aircon (mostly the split-type). Miriam Santiago should have been the President. She's the winner but Boy Benta cheated by brownout against her. Boy Benta is the 2nd cousin of late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr (who is patriotic), pero kontra talaga si Boy Benta.
