Hi guys, I made those today. In fact, I just finished eating. The are really fantastic, juicy and "meaty". I know you are all about low-fat, but ribs aren't everyday food, so I added a quarter cup of desodorized coconut oil to the recipe. They didn't come out "fatty" though, just perfect. And you are right, you really could fool some people. Thank you!

You are welcome, but be careful with coconut oil please! You added over 50 grams of fat and about 500 calories to that dish! 45g of that is saturated fat. Studies show that too much saturated fat is bad for heart health. This is why we avoid coconut oil altogether and greatly restrict any oil use. Not trying to preach, just dispense information. I mean, this is a low fat cooking channel after all :)

@@PlantBasedBistro you are right of course, but calories are not a problem for me, I am pretty skinny. I usually only use top-grade olive oil in small quantities, never deep-fry anything and I am almost sugar-free (I even replaced ketchup/BBQ with Ajvar). I see dishes like those ribs as a treat which I can afford once in a while.

The Very Good Butcher just went out of business months after I finally got to buy their vegan ribs and steaks at a local grocery store!! So this is very much appreciated. When I was looking around for recipes, I found a website called Faux Bones that makes *wood bones* for vegan meat, lol. Might be a fun addition to throw people off at BBQs 😂

Had no idea they went out of business. Interesting.

@@PlantBasedBistro I had to find out on their Instagram of all places, after looking for any place still selling their products! Unfortunate, they had great meatless options.
@PlantBasedBistro Жыл бұрын
I only tried a few of their products to be fair. I much prefer making it myself so I can control fat and salt content.

Faux bones do add to the experience. It’s like never having missed ribs.

@@joannemcmillan9201 6 months have passed since I left this comment, and I still have not tried this lol. Does the vegan meat stick pretty well, or is it like 'well-done', where it falls off the wood bone?

I've only made a seitan one time, a seitan brisket ( not from one of your recipes) and I did not like it. However, this looks so good I am going to try it, Thanks

Brisket is… unique. Ribs though, juicy, tender, yeah, you should try this. I have also found seitan to be a learned skill. Takes some time even with recipes to get a feel for it. We tried to make this method as simple as possible while giving a great texture and flavor.

Ohh! These “ribs@ sound sooo good and I can’t wait to try them! I don’t live near an Asian store, do you know where I can find the flavoring online? Thank you so much 🙂
