I didn't like ranchu until just now! They are adorable and look very healthy and happy. They are excellent quality too, I mean that calico is like wow, and the face on that other big one is so cute!

I keep them outdoors all year, tdee water in California gets only in the 40s at night. They are ok with it but i feed wheat germ based pellets

Christopher Aller just random pellets from hikari, Tetra, hai Feng, I think the sun and grazing on algae really helps

Water is about 20 to 24 inch deep. I have seen Ranchus in deeper water do just fine. Unless you have top view japanese ranchus which are best kept in shallower waters 💧
