I live in London and only have a tiny patio garden with high basement walls but we transformed it. We rent so one day when we move we will take everything with us. More than 3/4 are in pots and it’s going to be like Mary Poppins‘ bag when all the plants come out of our front door lol. I love all the inspiration you give me for when I have a bigger garden!

You should try to create a map of your garden for your tours and date it every time you make a change. It will be helpful to you also as you update your garden you can update your map. Just a suggestion. The trees look awesome. Don't get bummed out about negative feedback, some people are full of ignorance. 🤗🌲💐🙋🏽

I love your garden, the maple tree hedge looks awesome. I agree you shouldn’t have to defend what you remove from your garden, replacing damaged trees is something we all have to go through at some point. I actually went through some of the same flack because I threw out some boxwoods that weren’t doing very well. They were dying due to a mite infestation and needed to get rid of them before they infested my crape myrtle trees. Thank you for all of your videos, it gives me so much inspiration to improve upon my container garden.

I get what you are saying about the trees . 4 months after we moved into our house with a field for a garden our neighbour marched in and told us he organised with the previous owners that no trees would be planted as it would obscure his view of the other field .... guess what I have planted a garden 5 years on now and planted in excess of 100 trees . Wish I could show you but I don’t know how to upload photo to u tube

@janny3656 жыл бұрын
Hmmm bossy is not a word I would use , he has cut 4 ft off my hedge top and my side leaving his side green ........ spiteful is a better word . I have now planted willow that grows 6 ft a year and a 8 ft leylandii hedge . In front of those already planted are 2 cherries an apple , gooseberry, raspberry bushes . That will obscure his view to the bedroom and living room in no time at all . Also considering an all night security light .

Garden Answer, what shade trees would you recommend that don't have roots that will completely take over your lawn? Would Redpointe Maple be one of them? Off topic: the grass is amazing. We struggle with grass where we live! Do y'all have a problem with crabgrass? Love the idea for the maple tree "boulevard". And, yes, I agree with other comments. Your decision to take down the diseased tree was more than reasonable. Just a couple of months ago, a local tv reporter and photographer were killed when an old tree fell on their car as they were driving home from an assignment through a heavily wooded area. Not all trees are beneficial.

I noticed that the Limelights have dropped their leaves, can you tell me why and what should be done about it. Also are supertunias sold year round there? I cant find any anywhere here in Florida. I do know that the Ace Hardware planted masses of them spring this year on a very busy highway. The heat has been so vicious this year even though we have had significant rain, its been an afternoon sauna every day it seems. But bubblegum prevailed and were just gorgeous. Cant wait for next year. Last question I ordered some of the ghost honeysuckle but it dosn't ship until October, do I plant it in the ground at that time or do I keep it in pots until ready for spring?

Are you familiar with Gator Bags? They are 5(I think) gallon bags that fit around the trunk of a tree (with a zipper). You fill from the top and they empty from the bottom through small holes. They save time, water and you don't have to remember to turn a hose off...
@teleburke6 жыл бұрын
Benson Marshall , I love the gator bags. I am guessing they might not look as great in the videos though! I transplanted a lace leave maple in 90 degree heat 3 years ago. It came out of the ground with very few small roots. With loving care and a gator bag it has survived!
@bensonmarshall66606 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it is made by the same company or not but there is a watering bag on the market that looks like a brown donut... It's not quite as user-friendly... But it accomplishes the same thing and looks a little better. Is designed specifically for trees that have branches low on the trunk.

Laura limbs falling down off of diseased trees is a reality and can injure children and people. We took down a 100 plus year old tree because of the risks it posed to individuals walking beneath it. We missed the massive shade the tree provided but it simply wasn’t worth the continued risk to family, friends and children. Glad you addressed the issue.
@MosaicRose996 жыл бұрын
This is true. I remember those bigger branches falling off of that diseased tree that Aaron and Laura took out. Their late kitty, Dexter used to go under that tree all the time. If they kept that tree, then the same danger would have been there for their current kitty, Russell, and God forbid, for their son Benjamin when he becomes older and is walking around their yard.

You do not have to justify your choices for the development of your garden and home. Many people have very short sighted views and don't see the overall picture or understand the ultimate plan you have in mind. Even if those trees were healthy(which you said they were not) trees have a finite life expectancy and do not last forever. I have taken to heart your adage "If you don't like what is there then take it out and put in what you do like." A mantra that has freed me(and I'm sure others)from trying to work around plants and trees that I don't like. Thanks for the videos and advice. Love them all. The straight line is a very good idea. The trees are in a more formal configuration, I think, and need to be straight. Kinda hard to change once they are planted. Good planning.

The trees look great. I’ve always loved the allée style of driveway with a row of trees on either side especially when they join over the top in an arch. Anyone giving you flak about removing those trees has no real understanding of disease and safety considerations with old (or any) trees. You’ve definitely done your part to keep trees in your space for generations to come. I wish the red point maple was hardy to zone three. Beautiful choice.

Those maples are gorgeous! I can imagine how great they'll look when fully grown. I've seen additional photos of them and in winter weather the red branches are even more beautiful! Your family will love them for many, many years to come! 💜

The trees are going to look beautiful! We live in wine country Oregon. Your videos are inspiring us with ideas, thanks so much. It’s been scorching hot here too.
