You introduced me to the Heuchera several years ago and it has become a favorite. One the reasons is that it even has a winter presence which was a surprise considering other 'leafy' plants.

Jake, the above suggestion is essential!!! I had the privilege of helping a Horticulture legend in our state for many years. She drove me nuts with her incesent question of "What does the tag say?" and "Start by reading the tag." Now, 20 years later it is still the FIRST and probably the most informative step for even seasoned plant buyers should ask and start with that information.

Call your local garden center and ask if they can get them for you. Pay over the phone and ask them to leave your order by the back door (or make some other arrangement), no?

Live the Chinese Crested Fern, will be looking for that when I can get into the local nursery. I think I'll be adding a few ferns around the hydrangeas in my front flower beds. That arrangement is stunning, love the combination and the pot color. Perfect look for your porch!

Speaking of perennials, I purchased two flower pillows from Proven Winners last year. Zone 9 here and they did not die back in winter and are filling in with new growth, flowers already and new growth coming out of soil!! Who knew?? Also because of you, "Thank you!" Beautiful grouping and pot. I've used what I've always called earth pots that I've made from regular pots, old tool boxes, tubs, basically anything that will hold plants and water If your worried about overfilling, you can use a bit of rolled up paper towel or tablet paper, etc., pushed into the run off hole and angled down a bit as a wick. Stay Safe!

A trick you might like to try in order to see the front side of the pot as you’re planting for us is to use a full length mirror. A savvy floral designer uses a mirror to assemble bridal bouquets.

I purchased some deep trays they're clear plastic and they work very well you can't really even see them but if I go over a little bit it's taken care of and then it just evaporates around them but that is gorgeous I got tons of purples and yellows and I'm so excited to be out in the garden this spring thank you so much it's the first thing I do check my phone see if you're there and grab my coffee 😊

@@rustlesee I did buy 6 Dahlias in January, which will be fun since I've never grown them before. And my focus will be on growing vegetables and flowers from seeds this year rather than going to the nursery. And you are right, more time to daydream!

Hi Laura! I love how it came out, the fern is beautiful in the planter with the burgundy plant. The hosta would still work after it gets alot bigger as the planter is so large. Plants that hang over the planter would be ideal as well.

Oh you are pushing all the buttons this morning for my coffee with Laura and planting with my favorite color purple!!! I would love to find these plants so will be keeping my eye out when I can get to the garden center!!! Thank you so much for this amazing pot and I am so excited to see how everything grows! I was wondering how you were going to get that loaded pot to the porch so thank goodness Aaron was available. I am enjoying seeing all your planting as I can't go work in the garden at the center since we are closed and I woke up very sad that I don't think we will have much of a garden for the children this year by the time we are open again as it looks like that won't happen until May at least. But we will grow what we can and there is always flowers to grow so thank you for sharing!!

6.58 Pansies and violas are the sweetest. Once I was high up on a Greek mountain (700m) and my 6 year old daughter sat down and next to her there was a little rock and she says to me "Mum look, an orchid" And I go very close to it to see what it is. Can you believe it? It was a wild viola, Viola scorpioides the flowers of which were as big as my daughter's nails.
