Unfortunately for me I think a storm wiped out everything I planted. A week before planting I started removing water on my pond with a trash pump.On July 8th I started broadcasting (Quick6). The storm came through on the 14th. It added so much water back to the pond from where I started removing water that it submerged my trash pump. With work right now (out of town) I’m not able to do anything. Hopefully here in august I’ll be able to get some time off so I can head home to try re planting some jap millet in august since I heard some people here in Arkansas plant that late. Glad everything is going well for you!

Really sorry to hear that! Yes, I think you are still fine to plant Jap millet all the way up into August. Go get it!

Planting millet this weekend in NC hopefully not too late

Should be just fine! I have planted up until late august before with no issue. Millet will head out in 45 days in some cases, so worries at all with frost. Good luck! Lets make NC full of duck food

What native NC food sources do you recommend planting?
@Yellowlab247_Outdoors9 ай бұрын
You talking perennials that will keep coming back or annuals we seed?
@wolfpack39149 ай бұрын
Preferably perennials, but annuals is fine.

Great videos as usual. Will the rice germinate though 3”-6” of water or does the water have to be pulled off?
@Yellowlab247_Outdoors Жыл бұрын
In my experience, the water will have to be pulled off. it was a touch high and draining while we were out there so fingers crossed a few more inches will come off. I have not seen the rice I plant successfully germinate in more than an inch of water

Do you throw down any fertilizer at planting or wait?
@Yellowlab247_Outdoors6 ай бұрын
In swamps I do not! Plenty of organic decay and supper nutrient rich. If you were planting a clay bottom pond like this one, or impoundment, yes absolutely. Recommend 100lbs of Nitrogen per acre. I have lots of rice videos, search them out!
