I still love dolls and I will be 90 in December. I always got one for Christmas. I was going to be 13 in December so I told Mother that I didn’t’ need a doll that year. Come Christmas morning there was this beautiful doll under the tree. My Mother said “I passed by this doll and she said to me, TAKE ME HOME TO YOUR LITTLE GIRL.” I STILL HAVE THAT DOLL. I also have the little wicker rocker that I got for my first birthday. Oh the sweet memories that goes through my mine when I see those things. I love all of your and Matts videos. Enjoy your grandsons.

Oh Tipper, I loved baby dolls also. I still do. I wanted my lil granddaughter to love them as much as I do. One time she did get the doll out that we had gotten her for Christmas and she was pushing her around in her doll stroller, and I asked her how her baby was and her reply was “ She isn’t my baby, I’m just baby sitting”LOL 😂 Naomi just hasn’t ever cared for them. She loves Barbie’s, I adored my dolls and I would make a play house out in my Grandfathers woodshed because it would be empty in the Summer because the wood had been used to heat their house during the Fall and Winter. Such fun days.

We made houses out of cardboard boxes that we dragged to our house, from a furniture store close by. We cut out windows, and used string for a curtain rod and hung cloth on it for curtains!! Sometimes, if we were lucky we could get two or three boxes, and put them end-to-end, and made a whole house! We loved making our mud pies too. They dried real fast in that hot summer sun in Tennessee. Best years of our lives. 😍🙏🏻

Tipper, my Granny pulled up the WHOLE cabbage, INCLUDING the root, all in one piece, then put them in the root cellar in a bucket with sandy soil covering the root. She'd water it a tiny bit if it began to look wilted. They kept all winter that way, like FRESH from the garden.

Our bedrooms growing up were upstairs, so cold in the Winter and hot hot in the Summer. It would be way up in the early morning before you could sleep. Fun listening to kids games. I loved dolls too. My brothers and I went to church regularly and I remember playing church and the boys taking turns being the preacher. We piled up blocks or boxes or something to make a platform for the preacher. Oh what memories! Then we swept the backyard with a broom so we could play with cars and make racetracks. We gathered sticks and made bows and arrows so we could be cowboys and Indians. We also found arrowheads on our property in WV. The area we lived in was called Indian Creek and a small creek did run by our house and only once did a flood get up to our front porch.

I had a tree house when I was little, but it was just a platform with no sides, so I wasn't allowed to sleep up there for fear I'd roll off. Still, we could pretend it was a fort or a castle or a pirate ship or a stage...just anything. When I wanted to sleep out, I'd get one of my older sisters to pin some old worn out sheets on the clothesline to make me a "tent," and beg one of them to sleep out there with me. I put one on when I got back to go with supper. My husband would not eat any kind of greens, so I put just a spoon full on both my girls plates.
