We are starting a lavender farm! This is our second attempt to grow lavender here in Northeast Oklahoma. In this video, we prepare our field and plant our lavender.

I planted Vera, grosso & Provence memorial day weekend in Oklahoma. That week it began to rain and rained every few days until August 1. That's right, 2 months of rain. Had 300 because the suppliers were having trouble making more. Now have 190. They've grown and filled out but haven't created anything.

Are these rooted? You may need to baby them by potting them up first, then put in the field. Check to see if they have roots. Some nurseries sell them for the next step to be establishing roots.

Yes, they are rooted. This is actually our second attempt at growing lavender. We tried potting them first last year and they all died. All 200 of them. It's going better this year. We're trying until we get it right.

@@creekviewhomestead I hear ya! We bought some plants at the end of last season on clearance. We discovered there were 3 plants in the pots so we separated them & planted. They came back beautifully in the spring, but since then are struggling. Trying to figure out whether to water or wait with the lack of rain has been the question. The ones planted around the house, no special attention have been amazing now going on three years.

@@mimi27513 Same here! We have one in the flower bed in front of our house that we planted last spring (bought from Lowe's), and it's huge! I hardly ever water it. Crazy how that happens!

Unfortunately, they did not make it through the winter. We had a really weird winter this past year. But we aren't giving up. Trying again!
