Thank you for sharing! This is beautiful. 💛 I've planted 2 types of lilies this first year. The Honeymoon tree lily made it and it looks and smells stunning. I will be planting more next year. I want to plant especially the Pretty Woman type because it has huge white flowers and smells very nice as well apparently.

It's amazing to me that you can just put anything anywhere. In Colorado if there's no drip, there's usually no plant.

Good morning Flock Finger Lakes - and greetings from Maryland. Glad to see you're doing well. The garden's looking absolutely lovely - especially those lovely lilies, definitely one of my favorite flowers.. I'm definitely following your outstanding tips for gardening this year. 🌹🌼

Completely envious. I cannot plant these anymore because of deer. I planted some 10 years ago, and never saw a single bloom. What a waste! Day-lilies are another waste for me (and I’m moving them this year) because they are part of a deer buffet. I wish you well with them. Where I live in Central Virginia, there’s very little that can be done with the deer, so I’m becoming quite adept at finding the stuff deer don’t enjoy, and protecting the young tender leaves of younger trees.

Cool. Yes, some neighbors have them. They have planted them in the shade of a small brick property barrier, with an iron spaced fence on top. The flowers get full sun, the roots stay protected. I visit them through the fence. The neighbors just laugh at my reaction, to the powerful scent.

These are unscented actually, but still attract pollinators. But because they are unscented-may not attract human nostrils! :)

Just planted several star lilies! older ones from a year or so ago are coming back much stronger. Very validating and real that you dug up the tulip bulb... I can't tell how many times I've accidently dug up anouther bulb! What are good ways to keep chipmunks away?

How beautiful. Love Lilies, but here in CT they will bloom for a couple of years before they get decimated by Invasive Red lily beetles. Hopefully you are safe but beware 😢.

have you ever thought of growing ironweed, the New york iron weed in particular? You might have them and I missed video on it, but mine is a polinator magnet as well!

Just curious, how do you plan to deal with lily beetles? We are probably 3-hr drive south-east of you, and had already endured the first wave... :(

Lillies are so beautiful, but I have found that voles and deer go after many lilies like they are candy. Thanks for posting

Voles can be a problem for sure. Luckily our deer exclusion fence is in place (knocks on wood).

I wanted to ask, if you have a China Rose Tree on your property. Some here must be 20 years old. They are magestic, like a flowered float, in a parade. My Mom had a China Rose Bush. It bloomed each year on May 22nd. Here in 7-8 they bloomed in April already. If you like pink ruffles, then it's nice to see them, each year in Spring. Our flocks of water birds have not returned yet. Something is up. 🦆 Maybe they like it better, at your house.

This may be a stupid question. But I’m curious what you planted last year, is that possible that it will sprout out again this summer? Or you’ll have to replant it completely every year? Love your gardening video of your lovely land ❤

You should invest in some native lilies. In fact the Lilium michiganense will tolerate wet soil. You could plant some down by the lake.

I am surprised after all the work at a natural prairie garden reconstruction to use an ornamental that has a high likelihood to naturalize into the native meadow... sounds like a huge headache to get the escapes back out in the future.

I love lillies, except day lillies. Hemerocallis fulva is also my least favorite of the day lillies...and is also imvasive in NY.

Day lilies ore wonderful and native. Although the deer in NY love them! Never plant Asian lilies as they attract Japanese beetles to your garden.
@Fabdanc
@Fabdanc Жыл бұрын
Hemerocallis is not native, the orange (h.fulva) ones are usually listed as invasive as well.

We do have some lovely natives, including: Lilium canadense, Lilium philadelphicum, and Lilium michiganense-the latter we've planted near the pond. Those are all lovely alternatives.
