Your comments are so helpful. and watching you plant - those seedlings went pretty deep - good to see and learn from. I also didn't know not to fertilize zinnias a lot - so thanks for that info as well. Keep these videos coming! Oh! and glad to know I'm not the only one who messes up labeling - my zinnias this year are just a big mix!!

It's always a learning experience in flower farming, isn't it!! I don't get those big 'ol seedlings quite yet either but that's ok - as long as they're healthy - they'll get there!

That’s right. It’s hard to artificially create that perfect growing environment.

I love Zinnias.. I enjoyed watching you get them in the ground. Your garden area is beautiful & what zone are you in? 🌱

Thank you! I’m in zone 6b.

My first year soil blocking. Some success but, like you, I don’t understand how people get those huge plants in tiny blocks. The watering is a challenge too. I have mixed feelings now but will probably persist. Your Zinnias look in great shape.

I do prefer the soil blocks, mainly for the space it saves and it uses so much less soil. There is definitely a learning curve.
@janpapworth79562 жыл бұрын
@@freshcutflowerfarm yes, the space/soil thing is a big plus, but in my case there’s more practice needed.

It was my first year trying celosia from seed and it also made me feel like a novice! I’ve had such trouble with it.

It grows well in the field but I’ve never had great germination

@@freshcutflowerfarm I had germination issues with Pampas Plume as well, but probably 100% germination with Celway Terracotta. Good thing, too, because the seed is $$$!

I’ve got my eye on the Celway Terracotta for next year. Glad to hear you had good germ with it.

Nice video! May I suggest mentioning the month and zone you are in. You Said "i started this zinnias on the 28th" but doesn't give me an idea of when to start seedlings. Thank you.

Hi Leidy! Thank you for the feedback. I’m always looking for suggestions to improve my videos 🙂. I am in zone 6b. You want to start your seedlings based on your last frost date. My average last frost date is around April 27th.

Hi and thanks for your nice video. I saw you pull the seedlings from eachother. I wonder about that because I was under the impression that zinnias have very sensitive roots. That it can cause double/ filled zinnias to go single. Do you have any experience with this ? Best regards from Sweden 🤗
@freshcutflowerfarm2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ingrid. So far I have never had any root issues from pulling them apart. Zinnias do very well for us during the hot humid summers. I checked them this morning (2 days after planting) and they look perfect. I wonder if maybe that holds true for a specific variety of zinnias?
