Love the Potomac series. They do well for me in Pennsylvania US zone 6/7. I was intimidated at first because they are so tiny and slow to get going, but they are vigorous once outdoors and are still in full bloom as of October 15.

I am also from PA and grew Potomacs but I could not use them due to thrips. They were beautiful, around 4 ft high.

Aiming for seed starting by February 1 in the American South zone 8a. With crazy weather almost guaranteed, I’ll see what happens in my hobby garden. This year’s stars were dahlias. Next year is always a wild card. Good luck to all gardeners!

I am in Montreal Canada zone 5B, I transplanted my snapdragons in August expecting our first frost around September 21th , now looking at long term temperature to the end of October, I see no frost. I have no idea how they'll fair. It's a good thing that I just grow cut flowers for fun .

I'm z9a (I know y'all don't use those that system). The thing I don't like about the USDA zone map is that it doesn't take into account average summer temperature. My z9a is in the deep southern US, and it's hot and humid AF... Snaps... Don't do well in our summers. They love our fall, winter, and spring though! I just switched from a bedding variety to a cut flower variety (for height), and I'm excited to see what happens. Hopefully, they reseed themselves as they tend to do in my garden.

Yes I always get asked about my usda zone, but it isn’t really a good indicator of climate conditions. I bet you’ll love the taller variety after loving the bedding type!

Thank you Sarah for this very complete informative video ! I don’t quite understand the principle of USDA zones in Europe. In Belgium, we are supposed to be 8a, but we have our last frost mid may. I sawed my snaps mid August but had poor germination and they didn’t grow much. So, I haven’t been able to transplant them 6 weeks before the first frost and I still can’t do it 😞 Moreover, it’s very difficult to find the nice varieties that we used to buy in the UK after Brexit. This year I could find some Potomac and Mme Butterfly, but no Chantilly …

Potomac Appleblossom is my favourite if I had to choose and grow just one. I feel like the fragrance is the strongest with this variety and the creamy white and blush pink show many other colours to advantage.

Lovely video! What was the snapdragon variety that was white with purple veins & had a yellow speckled throat? That variety is so beautiful! My favorites are also the Potomac Lavender & Costa Apricot. 😊

This seems like a new type of format for you. I like it. Question. My snaps(Potomac) got thrips this year. How do I prevent this again. Maybe Chantilly(more open) would work better?

No, I don’t use row covers, we typically don’t get many hard frosts here and the plants are very hardy.
