Hi Bill I recently ordered some bulbs from ebay. The seller is pleione-for-you. I believe missorchidgirl also ordered some from this seller. I bid on 15 formosana and received 20. For about $30 including shipping. At least 13 of them are blooming size. They r just starting to bloom. You can take a look at his other auctions. The price is reasonable depending on the other bidders off course. It's so nice of Brad to sent you some. Good luck with them.

I've read that pleione tongariro has very small bulbs. Those bigger ones might bloom :-) I don't envy your weather. Usually here in the south of Finland it's between -15 and -25 C in February, but the temperatures have been surprisingly warm this year, around +2 C for almost 3 weeks already. Really weird. Bill, it's about 4:30 am and we're literally just back from Mexico and I'm watching your video. I'm not unpacking -too late for that, but it's never too late to watch your Pleione video. For fir bark, check the pet store on reptile side, they have a great deal on that, the only thing is that is not heat treated. I use it for about an year and it works great for small pots.

Hi Bill you can get some pleione from a ebay seller named pleione-for-you many diff varieties I purchase formosana. I recently ordered some. It worked out to $30 including shipping for 15 bulbs. He sent 20 I would say 13 of them are blooming size. I shared them out to my sisters so I only kept 6 for myself. One is in bloom and others are close. I got them at the beginning of Feb. They are for bid so the prices vary. Good luck with ur new bulbs.

Very cute :) I've won 4 different varieties of Pleione on e-bay... can't wait to receive them and try grow those cute orchids :)) I was luckier with the shipping cost, the seller offered £3.5 for the shipping from UK to France for 14 bulbils all together. I guess they are going to be as little as yours, and if I understood correctly they might take up to a couple of years to get to a blooming size. I am totally new with these orchids and pretty curious to try and grow them :) Good luck with your little bulbs. :))

As a complete beginner with pleione I would have found it useful to know the best time to pot the bulbs, and the conditions for keeping them at that stage. I've just bought some bulbs and would like to give them the best possible start!

I too am just a beginner. These are my first pleione bulbs. You need to plant them in the spring, bright indirect light and water and feed them frequently when they are actively growing.

Bret Furgason I agree with you. Pleione should be easier to find in Canada. sheesh.. they are like Hostas.. multiply quickly but still expensive.

Bill, do the bulbs need a dormancy period? Do they survive in the tropics? BTW, nice video. I never knew that orchids can be grown from bulbs.

Tien Ramos They do need a cool dormancy period for the winter to really produce a nice show. you can replicate this by putting the bulbs in the fridge for a few months if you don't have the cooler temps in your area. Keep in mind the bulbs don't want to freeze.

Thank you, we actually went to home depot to get some other garden related things, and guess what i saw, the mister/sprayer! Its the one you need to pump up, and it was only 6$, so im happy lol
