Excellent selections Greta here we are getting rain in the morning and sun in the afternoon. But it’s cold and we have extra quilts on still 🤦🏼♀️. Hope they all do well, happy gardening, Ali 🌧️🇨🇦

We had a good frost last night as expected, Ali. Should be last so I can finally put more plants out. Time to get busy 😀

Hi Greta. I ordered potatoes from Fedco before I moved. I moved in March. They went to my old address. Finally got them from my daughter and in the ground. Hopefully they will grow. Thank you so much for sharing. Enjoyed your video😊💚🐝🌻

I once sent my potatoes to my sister in Nova Scotia by mistake. Cost a fortune to ship back 🤣. Good luck with your potatoes!

Hi Greta, great idea to cover the table with a plastic cloth! Do you use bone meal in your garden? I know that will prompt some dogs to dig. Your fox sounds gorgeous, even if he's mischievous! ~ Sandra

No I don't use bone meal Sandra, but interesting point. I hope I can get a picture of the fox some morning. As he's messing with my beds 😅

Hello! This is my first time seeing you. I love planting and digging potatoes. Do you plant sweet potatoes?
@gretasgarden5 ай бұрын
Hi Coleen, thanks for stopping by! It really is fun pulling potatoes to see what one does or doesn't 😄 get. I tried sweet potatoes once but they didn't have time to amount to anything at all. I will try again, I'm sure! I love sweet potatoes. Have a wonderful day

Last year I planted potatoes where I had my garlic. Now I’ve got potatoes coming up amongst my garlic! I obviously missed several. Should I just leave them? I might wreck the plant when I harvest my garlic. Asking for a friend haha

you never get all the potatoes out ever from my experience
@gretasgarden5 ай бұрын
Well the good thing is they are companion plants, Carla. I always leave any as I love a bonus. If there's too many, you can just pull the potato stems now.

Have you tried the potatoes bred for Newfoundland conditions?
@gretasgarden4 ай бұрын
Hi I haven't actually. What varieties have you tried. I always get my seed potatoes from Veseys in PEI. Similar climate and of course well known for their potatoes. Veseys sells Elite 1 top grade seed.

The Dept. of Agriculture had research done on potato growing in Newfoundland in order to develop strains to resist such problems as scab and blight among others). There have been many types of potatoes that have come out of this research. Two I can recall off the top of my head are Atlantic and Red Chieftain. If you get an opportunity to try some give it a go. Love your videos. 🙂
