This is my favorite poem by Emerson and I think you’ve definitely succeeded! ❤️ To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, To find the best in others, To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, A garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

The weather in northwest Washington has been extremely wet this year. I've seen it before but many years ago (30 yrs). We live at 1000 ft behind a mountain and have received 75 inches of rain and very few sunny days in June. April and May had more sunny days than June has. I'm so glad that you are getting a good mix of sun and rain. Your garden looks beautiful.

The new varieties are gorgeous. It’s a favourite plant in my garden too. Of note is that you’re trimming the Cat Mint in a dome shape which keeps it nice when it regrows. I needed this video today. The music you chose was so soothing. It is rare that I get to relax and drink my coffee before the kiddos get up for the day, but on those rare occasions I almost always watch your videos. I found a variety of nepeta last year called “Little Trudy” catmint. It bloomed from April to October and I didn’t have to shear it back at all. The blooms stayed bright purple all season. It even survived a late spring snow storm in May, blooms and all.

I did a small lamp post garden where I included three bushes of Nepeta. My oldest cat loved it when I would shear it back because he'd lay in the clippings like they were catnip. So, now anytime I start a new full sun garden Nepeta has to be included. I have two Walkers Low juniors planted around my roses with more planned for another garden. In our area Monrovia is more prevalent than Proven Winners is but hopefully I will be able to find some of these varieties.

I am a big fan of Cat's Pajamas. I planted them last year in a new bed I made. They got way less sun than I thought they would and got a deluge of water off the shed roof whenever it rained that I had not considered. They looked, small, yellow and sickly all year. Best of all, you impart all of this, not as the skilled teacher you are, but as a friend.
