Austin heat wave continues. I gave up on my garden. Just let it go. The heat index has not gone below 87 at 5am. 115 most days. No rain. No relief in sight. This channel is keeping me alive. Thank you Laura and team

When my sister and I were little girls my mom would give us an ice cream pail and send us into the woods to pick blackberries. The BlackBerry patch was huge, and the canes were almost as tall as we were. When we would get home, she would take and give us a bowl of whole milk with a splash of heavy cream in it. She would add a handful of blackberries into it and then sprinkle sugar on top. We would crush a few of the berries so the juice would seep out into the milk and then we would just devour it. It's one of my most favorite memories thinking back to my childhood. Absolutely delicious.😋💗

Here in Texas we’re all suffering from intense heat. But I’ve planted everything in my new garden according to Laura’s great advice and my shrubs and flowers are doing amazing!! Drip tape and short staggered watering to let it soak in seems to be doing the trick. Lots of compost and mulch to keep the roots cool is key. My garden is just amazing this year and I’m so thankful 🦋

Laura, your gardens look beautiful. Texas gardens are done for the summer but you keep me looking forward to Fall😊 You are so blessed to have those cool night time temps. I think it must really benefit the plants and allow them to regroup after your hot days. I've always been told that if blackberries are shiny, they are not ripe. If you wait until they turn dull, they're perfect and ready to pick!

thank you for the iron tone reminder and I can't wait see how that new plant/shrub does. I took a trip this weekend to Boise and was able to head up your way for a fun side trip. I made it to A Tavola and I am in love with their apricot rosemary cookies (if you haven't tried them you MUST) and the corn and blueberry salad. yum yum yum Oh! and i had to have the curry chicken sandwich. It was all incredible. I was also able to make it to Andrews. yay! I met your mom, Monica, some of the other wonderful people and the new bird Clove? (oh darn, my memory is so bad) Everyone was just so lovely and kind. It felt strange and I was a little embarrassed to confess that I am a KZbin watcher and feel like I know them so well. They were all fine with it and made me feel right at home. We talked about your new pond and all of the amazing gardens you have all put in this year. It was so much fun for me. If they are reading this comment THANK YOU! I couldn't pick up any plants on this trip but I bought a couple of metal orbs for my garden. I can't wait to plant a couple of climbing things around them. Like I told your family, THANK YOU for the inspiration and for all of the hard work you put into these videos. I am a new gardener and even though you may feel that you are repeating basic information, it really does help and is appreciated.
