You might notice I filmed this right before the pond project! We tried to edit and upload all the pond videos as quick as we could and this video got left behind. Figured we would still post it even though it was last week! 💜

I live in an area where wild blueberries thrive. You could try mulching them with pine needles, this would imitate the soil they thrive in here. Just a thought…I thought that was a pretty good pick in your handy basket🫐

Hate to see the pallet walkway go, it’s been so charming near the chicken coop, but now that the areas around it have started to take shape, it makes more sense to make a change. Your yard has evolved so much the last three years and I love that you’re never afraid to embrace the change, even when you say it takes you a minute to get there. It gives us all that encouragement to do the same.

The rule of thumb when I worked on an apple tree farm, we used the air pruners. Was hold the branch you were cutting with your other hand well away from pruners and if branch not big enough to hold with empty hand, hand went behind your back so you didn't suddenly grab infront of pruners just as you cut.

Good morning all! One of my favorite things about GA is the inspiration I get for doing garden maintenance and what not, there are always so many things to do in the garden that it can be overwhelming at times and my ADD keeps me from completing tasks or starting them but seeing Laura do things around her garden really gets my day started in a positive way ☀️🌺🦋👒

Hey Laura and Aaron! Native Mainer here (zone 5B) who goes back several times every summer. Maybe other viewers will chime in about growing berries - I don’t really expect Aaron and Laura to see this since they have so many comments. Their smallest berry looks to be about the size of our bigger wild Maine berries. (Not the high bush variety.)☺️ They are SO sweet. You mentioned the sun might be too much for your berries and perhaps with the heat you’re right. Here the fields are completely exposed to sun all day long and they love it. Inland the day temps can get into the 90’s and a bit warmer at night. Those who live inland know better than me. On the coast, that heat drops so tonight’s low is going to be 64. Hot in the day, cooler at night and they love it.

Here's another tool for Aaron to check out that I love. Hubby purchased it for me to use rather than having to cut smaller limbs with his larger chain saw. Stihl GTA 26 hand chain saw. We purchased an extra battery and chain. It's little over a foot long and fits in whichever is your dominate hand. Great for hunters also to trim limbs when you climb tree to hunt in. Cost about $160 and worth every dollar. I use it to trim off limbs that are to large for the DeWalt pruner. I love that one also.

I used to complain about the climate here in my city, which is a dry climate with almost no humidity almost all year round, except for the short rainy season, since it is a semi-desert climate, but when I go to places with high humidity and heat, I want to come back here immediately. . LOL!

Hi Laura good to remind people how easy it is to to cut yourself when pruning or harvesting as I nipped myself the other day when harvesting cut flowers! Thankfully it was minor! The Golden Rain tree arrangement is lovely! My River Birch was being majorly attacked by Japanese Beetles, very frustrating I pruned it up and the Beetles have moved on! Blueberries are my favorite I will have to give it a try! 💙💙💙

Random idea for the arch with the wisteria. Personally I absolutely love the pallet walkway next to the coop up to the arch but think it would look so neat with a small fountain or planter in the arch. Like the basket boy!! One of those style planters! You were talkin of blocking off the back anyways so it could be a hidden shaded planter in the arch with the stunning wisteria above it!! Ughh I absolutely love everything about that space with the old brick gone!!! It was neat at nostalgic but needed to go!

I know your plan is to change the board walk path but as you cut back that wisteria and that view appeared... gorgeous. Also you spoke about a Hugelkultur system in with Aaron in Garden Answer. Maybe the blueberries are a chance to try this out with your firs, pine-trees prunings, pinecones put into those tubs would be perfect for a trial. May help to keep the acidity going. I love how much you can plant and plan for, having a small garden myself I'm so limited as to what I can continue planting. I love all your ideas.
