My gigantea is so loud it smells up the whole greenhouse ( 12 x 25 ft). I always think a rat had died inside somewhere until I look up and see the big starfish flowers. And yes, flies.

Oooh, I love strapelia and those stinky blooms.. 😆💚 I first got some 6 years ago from my neighbour.. he has tons of it growing outdoors under some large aeonium (yes, it definitely likes more shade than most other succulents).. Funny thing is, he doesn't tend to it at all and it grows brilliantly rain or shine and even survives through winter.. no rot, no mealy bugs.. The plant I leave growing outside also does great.. Yet the one in the greenhouse has suffered black rot and mealy bugs.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It seems weird, but it's just an observation.. Thanks for all the recent uploads, Lyn.. sending love to you and Hans xx 🤗

So happy you love Stapelias too Fiona :-D they really are amazing bloomers and really incredible plants with how their flowers trick the flies to think the blooms are rotting flesh, WOW thats amazing with your Neighbours Stapelia, I bet all the outdoor fresh air has kept it growing so well, I think these plants in an enclosed environment could encourage more chances of mealies, thanks so much Fiona for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Italy for a fantastic Thursday today XXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon I do remember when I was in Cork for 6 weeks one summer. Do you consider stepelia grandiflora difficult to grow? I don't have it, but I do have gigantea. And it's very easy compared with some. They also have a habit of marching from one pot to another! Leaving the oldest part to die and dry up. Much like opuntia humifusa does. Looks like it wants to grow with all those roots!! If like gigantea, it should root in about two maybe 3 weeks. Thanks for sharing Lyn!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!! ✌️💖🌵🌴🍀🌿🌱🌸🌳🪴🌾🌻💐🌷🌹😃👍
