How about “Rinky dink pink” for the astilbe..lol. I’m planning on making a new border for next year, and adding to some older ones....started making “want” lists and notes from your videos so thank you to you and the “camera crew” for all your hard work and info. 👍

What a beautiful garden you have this year, unfortunately for me, the storms on our Welsh Coast have nearly bought my garden to an early finish, I just hope it can come again. So envious of yours

My astilbe looks different than yours, John! They’re brown....and crunchy. It’s the variety. Called....hot as hell in the American south, John! I don’t blame you and your great weather. I blame....the plant! I would love another trip to Ireland...it invigorated my soul.

Now that Cannabis is legal in Canada, it's not something you get in trouble for talking about here. Haha I liked "Paul's Best Yellow" Crocosmia and the dwarf red variety as well. Acanthus is a neat genus. I bought my grandma an A. mollis this year for Mother's Day, but I like the thiner foliage of the A. spinosus you showed a little more...but she's always wanted a Bear's Breeches so she's happy either way. :)

Hi John!, Love looking at your gardens. I have many deer and love seeing what I can’t have. Your gardens are on such a large scale, and though though have plenty of land, I am too old to attempt that scale. I sure wish I could visit and walk through it! Was the pretty purple spikey thing beside the pampas grass Agastache?

I have a question for John and all of you. I've been a DIY backyard gardener for 50 years, and although I don't have John's encyclopedic knowledge of plants, I do have a great sense of scale, color and design. I can look at a spot in the garden and imagine the height, foliage, and color of the plant I want. But, how do I translate that into an actual plant in a nursery. I can't find a nurseryman nearby who can give me suggestions based on a description as simple as: "an 18" high perennial for a sunny location, with more foliage than flowers, preferably in the blue family that blooms at least in mid-summer."

Gorgeous garden! One tip is to buy a camera stabiliser so that when the person who is recording has the camera suspended in a floating position in this device, which means we don't get shaky footage.
