Nice video! Just a friendly reminder, Strelitzia Nicolai is male, the reginae is the female. So you don't risk offending him, offending the Nicolai can also be noticed when the leaves turn brown.

I have planted it in a self watering system pot. I just refill the tank of the pot once in a while but I see that the soil is really too humid at the surface (even if its bottom watered). What should I do ? Thanks

I'm in England, spring through summer I've been watering every 2 weeks I let sit for 30 mins in water then take out, i feed half recommended dose of fertiliser every 2 weeks also plant is by a sunny window and looks healthy, should i water every 3 weeks now or once a month its late October almost November? Ty I care for it like, a baby I got it last spring so not been through a winter thus far, ps I won't fertilise until spring and i will repot in spring. Cheers in advance, love your voice haha.

Ahhh my plant seems to be dying. It’s brown and splitting none stop the leaves are very sticky for some reason. I just moved my plant to the sunroom because it gets sun all day long but it also gets extremely hot so I put in a humidifier. I hope it can get back to normal.

Hi! I usually use coconut coir, pumice or perlite, and worm castings for my potting mix ! If you are referring to the white stuff that'd be pumice or perlite. Hi! In general east facing windows are great for morning light :-) and Bird of Paridise may be okay there. However, there are other things to consider when it ocmes to natural light. Hi thanks for the tips. I just recently purchased a bop and I had a few questions I’m hoping you can answer. I live in a small studio apartment with three large windows that face SW. I’m stuck because I’d like to leave the plant there however due to the draft and ac vents pointing directly at the windows, I figured it wouldn’t be a great spot at least through winter. Additionally I’ve noticed the leaves curling inwards. Since then I’ve bought a full spectrum grow light and humidifier. My question is with the supplemented light, should I move the plant away from the window given the circumstances? I ask because i feel like it would be missing some good sun here and there and not sure if a grow light would be sufficient enough through winter. Also, during the spring and summer should I continue to use the grow light in conjunction with natural sunlight? Thank you I’m advance!

Im not Lucia, but I looked into grow lights recently. A lot depends on the type of light you purchased. Some give full spectrum light and people use these even when growing plants in an area with no natural light at all. Lucia has some vids that go into detail about grow lights; theyre worth checking out. Good luck.

what fertilizer do we use "organic fertilizer" is just a generic term, what specific fertilizer. I have watched 10 videos on the care of BOP, but not one person mention a specific fertilizer that works. WTF
