@@ajay6225 Yeaup, could get a 1 ft arc out of it. I used a 15kv 60hz neon sign transformer as the source, which fed into some small copper tubing that I used as the primary. Used a lot of magnet wire wrapped around a PVC pipe as the secondary. For the toroid, I used a couple aluminum pie plates back to back with flexible dryer vent around the outside. Then wrapped all of that in aluminum tape. I used 5 or so short pieces of larger copper tubing on a flexible platform as the spark gap. I don't remember the capacitors I ended up using, but definitely remember popping a few doorknob caps in the process. Man those things smell! Also forgot to bleed the charge from those caps once and that hurt pretty good! Only did that once though!! 😁

Tesla coil technology has been around for over a hundred years, and the basic design has not changed much. However, a new way to use IGBT transistors to replace the spark gap has made it possible to build a Tesla coil that can generate free energy. The traditional way of building a Tesla coil is to use a spark gap to create the sparks that flow through the coil. This approach is no longer necessary with IGBT transistors. By using IGBT transistors, it is now possible to create a Tesla coil that can generate more than enough energy to power itself. This new approach to building a Tesla coil has the potential to change everything. With this new design, it is now possible to build a Tesla coil that can generate free energy.

One of my favorite videos of yours! I’ve been building SSTCs and DRSSTCs for almost 8 years and my journeys in electrical engineering and physics are similar to yours and I’ve loved your videos from the very first one. So I’ve been waiting a long time for you to do a video showing the experience of building an SSTC, the highs and lows, joys and pains, ecstasy and pure hellish torture. I’ve built 14 coils now and your vid hit the experience perfectly (hit it right on the head with a bloody hammer), the pure madness and frustration of blowing up dozens of pricey components for weeks on end and the indescribable elation of getting those beautiful arcs at last, you got me fired up to build another! It was there because someone called to get their sign serviced and the guy found the problem was an over cooked, fried crow that must have landed on the wrong spot! It was still cooking it! No wonder why their sign would only flicker! He put a different one with ground fault in there and said it was all fixed. I saw the picture of the fried crow! But it still works just fine still and it made For a great conversation too! It was the capacitors that gave me the most trouble finding! Instead of using transformer to drive IGBTs, use any of the ICs specifically for the purpose, such as IR2110. IC has controls to prevent cross-conduction of the IBGTs & weak drive due to low supply voltage. These ICs can handle driving bridge of IBGTs or FETs from up to 600V bus.

If overdriving the gates of these transistors is an issue you encounter regularly - consider using a zener diode at the gate to limit the voltage. Find a zener with a breakdown voltage at the highest voltage you want the gate to every encounter & wire the zener to create a safety bleed to ground whenever it encounters voltage that meets or exceeds it's spec. Cheap safety valve.

Finally an SSTC :P I want that board like I want cake. Definitely! I've alwys wanted to try some spectrometry on plasma and a pulsed sourced like that of an SSTC is just *chef's kiss*. Final goal? Making a rudimentary ICP-OES
@PlasmaChannel2 жыл бұрын
ICP-OES? That sounds way above MY paygrade lol. Thanks for watching!

Amazing video on sstc.. I had made a sgtc
@warwick59362 жыл бұрын
That is amazing and shared it. Can you combine the SS Tesla coils with the ionic wind device as the plasma pulses look far stronger and possibly more thrust.
