Great channel BTW - I have a question. My home is being built right now in Italy. We have a large brick wall surrounding our home, with 10cm of insulation applied on the exterior (using round plastic plugs to attach to the wall). On top of this, they apply the render. They told me they used 3 coats of render plus one coat of paint as a sample. However, when I look at the wall around midday (sun above), I can clearly see the lines of the insulation joints and some of the round plugs. They tell me I will not see this once an additional coat of paint is applied, and it is normal. But I think the issue is greater than this. What are your thoughts?

Hi mate. Might be a daft question but is it standard for the stop beads to be visible? Is this now ready to paint or would you be adding silicone type finish coat?

Hi Blaine, I'm looking at giving this a go at my mums... practice there, before my extension 😂 Whats your go to for preparing brick / block with OCR? Soak it, Rend Aid, exterior pre-grit? Mesh vs no mesh? Cheers, Stu 👍🏼

Brilliant video, as always - Thank you 👍 Interesting you still use a two stage scratch and topcoat, even though the Weber product is labelled a One Coat Render. Makes a lot of sense having the two coats. I have an old 1940's building to render, constructed of old Suffolk White bricks. I was thinking of using a mesh. Can you still embed this in to scratch coat using this OCR material? Also, would you prime the wall with SBR or something, or would you just go straight for your scratch coat? Keep you the great work!

I spoke with Weber about OCR and I was told to always use the product with their 'rendaid primer' and then to stipple this with a burnhole roller. Also, if it wasn't being applied with a machine the second coat must be put on within an hour of the scratch, they specified 'wet on wet only' never to let the scratch dry. Have you had any problems with your method as it looks easier than what was directed ? Thanks

they told me it really for a backing coat for their other finishes to go on top, made no sense as its being advertised as ocr , i was told by them its not a s&c substitute?? phone call made no sense, so i left it and went back to s&c

@@leegorman3329 it would be great if Weber were consistent with their response. That way everyone could avoid voiding its guarantee.

Another great Video! I am rendering a Devonshire Stone wall on the rear of a house. It is covered in holes and odd bits of brick thrown in. My approach has been Dub out with mortar , Slurry coat with OCR/cement/sand...... and then build up Weber Ocr and some mesh to get the wall ready fro the final render. Are there any obvious issues with this approach?

A very good video Blaine, I’ve used this product myself and I agree it’s very nice to use and work with, much like using hardwall really. One thing I will say which is important is, Webber, like Krend, Parex and all the other brands, will only honour the guarantee IF you are an approved applicator of the product. I.e. you have paid and attended their own courses. 99.9% of the time rendering issues come down to applicators error and that could include weather conditions, time of year, timings, suction control, techniques etc etc. the list is long and that’s what people having ago need to understand or they’ll have a bad day😢 Very good and informative video though mate 👍

One thing I find is the price difference from s&c which puts me off using it for big jobs, will lose out if pricing against people using s&c. Where are you picking it up from? Decent price per bag?
@PlasteringForBeginners
@PlasteringForBeginners Жыл бұрын
I get it from Jewsons in Tunbridge Wells. I get it cheaper but to be honest I wouldn’t go back to sand cement now. My prices haven’t changed but I get the job done faster and the peace of mind is worth it. I still do well from the job so I’ll take it. But you are right….these systems can get expensive!

I always watch when people fit outside spotlighting after having it rendered, especially a KRend, if you they thought it was flat those spotlights show the surprise, bumps and bulges appear like bad magic. You are right too, the level is the whole thing for a prefect finish.

Loving the rendering videos too, I'll be starting on the garden next year and so will be rendering a lot of bare brick to tidy it up. Keep up the good work.
