Mark, I have viewed most of your Videos and plan on making two blinds this spring. I am currently trying to decide if I want to put in plexiglass sliders, using pvc trim boards, or a hinged window. Any thoughts recommendations on hinged (Up), vs sliders. Noise reduction thoughts for sliders? I really like the ability to open either end of a slider, or simply remove the windows if i'ts not too cold. Finally, what thickness Lexan would you recommend for sliders? Would .220 still be required?

Hey Gordon, I have hinged-up windows in one blind. I like that they are completely out of the way when open, and you can reduce or avoid blind spots with more allowed window space. It's all or nothing though, when you open them. I like that you can just crack a slider open if that's all you need. If I lived in the south, I'd probably go with acrylic sliders for the reason you mentioned. Ice and snow does present problems with them eventually where I am, and they do operate with a little more noise compared to hinged ones. In my opinion 1/8" acrylic is fine for sliders, if they aren't really tall (like under 12"). Go with 1/4" (.220) if you plan to build hinged acrylic windows. You'll appreciate the rigidity in that scenario. Perhaps you mixed me up with Mark from "The Back 40"? That's a great channel BTW!

@@UncleBucks Sorry Brett. I guess I was just looking for recommendation between sliders and a Hinged Up/Down windows, for MN / WI hunting areas. I have previously made sliders, and they seemed to work pretty good, however your design for the garage seal on your hinged windows looks great, and reasonable affordable I just came back from the home supply store, and see how much prices have gone up. I was thinking of using PVC trim boards and making my own sliders, but I can almost buy sliders for the same $$ I was just wondering if you had any preferences between the various types. Thanks again for your wonderful videos.

@Gordon Anderson ok gotcha. I like sliders the most for gun hunting, but I like my vertically hinged acrylics best for archery hunting.

@@UncleBucks Any thoughts / suggestions on Sliding window frame design / materials? I would like to put in about a 4' wide window on a 5' to 6' blind, and I assume 12" to 16" high is more than enough. Would you recommend two pieces of Lexan, or cut it up into three pieces. I assume I would have to go to three tracks. I am wondering if your garage door seal would work for the bottom on a slider, to help keep the sow out of the tracks and icing up. Would you use wood, PVC trim, HPDE for the slide "frame" material. Thanks again for your feedback.

@Gordon Anderson if I were to build some, I'd avoid wood. You'll have no swelling and definitely better sliding in pvc trim or c channel frames/tracks. I'd go with 3 panels and two tracks. The left and right panels in the outside track and the middle panel on the inside track. That'll give you the most opening options but the center one is probably the one you will operate the most, and it would always slide in the inside ice-free track, behind the other panes. You'll have some air leaks to address in the seams/overlaps though. For about $80 a window, you can buy pre-made insulated vinyl sliders at Menards, shown in my frosted window video. Those are really quiet operating. I'm not sure if I would go any other way now for gun or crossbow hunting. JMHO

I have seen them a every Home Depot I've been to. They are right by the vinyl lattice panels. Typically come in white, tan, green & black. Good luck!

Lowes has vinyl wainscoat or wall panel trim that might work for this also. And even cheaper. Used the inside channel before as cheap alt for 1/4 round when installing laminate sheet or tile flooring.
