@@thedreamer6429 sadly, no. The instrumental used here is the one made by Mariya Takeuchi and if i tried to upload it, not only would it get taken down almost immediately but id probably be sued badly. My cover on Spotify has the same exact lyrica as used here and lots of live instruments to give a similar feeling. I know its a different mix and timed to match the original track, but i hope you'll still take a listen and gain an appreciation for the one there, as we put a lot of time and love into our rendition of the instrumental.

Were you alive during the bubble era? My father is from Detroit and talks all the time about Detroits heyday during the auto boom and how it felt like the center of the world for a couple decades. Obviously Japan didn't fall nearly as far as Detroit, but I'm curious as to what it was like.
@x66214 жыл бұрын
@@jakej2680 Well, the fall of the Bubble Era was not as dramatic or shocking or collapsing as people tend to think. The Bubble Era was basically 4 years of consumer overspending, glamour, luxury and excessive lifestyles. Yes, I lived through it. It was super fun. They were times when innocence were at its height and the world seemed to be at the end. City Pop was booming on every street corner. We had embarrassing hairstyles, huge and ridiculous. We used to wave fans and feathers when we were dancing in Tokyo’s clubs. It was a fantastic time to be alive. But at the same time, when the Bubble burst, it had no dramatic effect on the Japanese lifestyle. The Japanese people became much more wise and resourceful in their spending, no longer overspending ridiculously But in general, consumer spending here in Japan remains one of the highest in the world. Walk down ANY downtown Tokyo street and there’s about 17 shopping malls and 20 luxury stores. 30 years later, Japan is still the 3rd largest economy in the world, the 4th biggest exporter in the world, the Yen is the 3rd most traded currency in the world, and Tokyo recently overtook Hong Kong as the financial center of Asia. After the bubble ended, Shibuya and Harajuku began to flourish as centres of fashion and rebellious youth culture that had not existed prior to 1991. City Pop was no longer mainstream music and the big hair disappeared. So basically the Bubble Era was not so different to what Japan is like today and how Japanese people live today, only back then people were more optimistic about the future, and now we are smarter about how we use our gigantic savings accounts. There’s also the fracturing of Japanese female fashion in new “subcultures”- Harajuku girls, Shibuya girls, Bubble revival girls, the list goes on. City Pop in the last 5 years has returned massively to the Japanese mainstream. Also, the Japanese economy became less reliant on consumer spending, and much more on exports, scientific research, financial services, and technology.

I believe we'll see another era like that in the future as the world deglobalizes. That era existed through Japanese and American co-prosperity. Our nations still maintain complimentary industrial bases and practices but China has sucked up a lot of industrial demand. Repatriating manufacturing will have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order effects that kick off a return to the era of co-prosperity that we saw during the 1980's. I'm speaking from experience as a gun industry guy. The best optics on the market are either American made, Japanese made, or American designed and Japanese manufactured (like the current king of LPVO's the Eotech Vudu 1-10). That could apply to a lot of industries if we repatriated manufacturing. Our nations could rule the world again if the situation in China becomes untenable, and I'm hoping it does.

As a fluent Japanese speaker and a city pop geek, I absolutely love this translation. I think it’s important, when translating two alien languages-like English and Japanese-that it’s important to deliver the same intent. Also, I’m so glad you stuck to the same vocal quality as Mariya-Sama. I think modern pop singers soup up vocals waaay too much, and the original intent of the author gets lost. It's quite rare for me to come across an English cover that meets and blends well with the original track without rushing or dragging. Usually since the lyrics were already written with a specific tune and beat in mind, that means translating it necessitates stretching or condensing many words and making it quite cumbersome. Honestly I think direct translations tend to suck. Translating stuff (especially lyrics & literature) involves more than just changing words from one language to another; you also have to take care to translate ideas from the source language into a way that makes sense in the target language. Sometimes that means not being precise with the wording.
@taskendeer4 жыл бұрын
As you can't really do a precise translation without completely ruining the rhythm etc. This is a pretty good one, at least from what I know of the original lyrics. You have it spot on, not perfect translation but as good as can be given the challenges.

Most of the beest English song dubs are that: Japanese and English are just too different when it comes to diction for a direct and accurate translations to work well for songs. Accurate translations are great for stuff like written stories and subtitles, but for songs where melody and rhyme are important it's best to just remake the lyrics to better fit.

I'm usually really hesitant about these dubbed songs because for some reason they feel off compared to the original ones. But this, this is done perfectly. I'm not even exaggerating this is perfect. This is a dub done right. Not many are out there like this.
@DiskoSpider5 жыл бұрын
I think because the singer knows and understands how the song was meant to be sang and how the fans of the original expect it to be sang. A lot of dubs the singer wants to try to use it as a platform to show off some vocal talent by adding a bunch of frills and gaudy trash to the vocal melody. This artist stayed very true to the source material.

Lyrics: A sudden kiss in the morning, a tender gaze in the evening Beyond my range of comprehension until you brought to attention Greetings always followed by sweet goodbyes, yes, all must meet its end Baby, can’t you just relax? Don't look back, don’t hurry! Still reminiscing the day when you left me all on my own, then I walked away from any daylight, instead of dawn it was twilight Underneath the disco ball breaks the spell that holds you in my mind Though I used to dance with you, now we’re through, I’m sorry! Don't you dare even try to convince me, don’t you lie ‘bout the way that we could be "Love’s a game" they all say it, they mean it-might as well have fun, play every single one I filled the holes and the cracks in my heart with fancy high heels and plenty of dresses They’re my sole companions on this journey Many men, that are fishing and begging, speak of love but they’re still second-guessing Hollow vows, even promises broken: every face and voice brings memories of you Glassy eyes shedding tears of my sorrow, hoping they will forget by tomorrow Praying no one’s asking for the reason. Still reminiscing the day when you left me all on my own, then I walked away from any daylight, instead of dawn it was twilight Underneath the disco ball breaks the spell that holds you in my mind Though I used to dance with you, now we’re through, I’m sorry! Don't you dare even try to convince me, don’t you lie ‘bout the way that we could be "Love’s a game" they all say it, they mean it-might as well have fun, play every single one I filled the holes and the cracks in my heart with fancy high heels and plenty of dresses They’re my sole companions on this journey A thousand dazzling lights surround me, glimmering with mysticality As if they’re calling me to head back, but tired train rides endure that, Half-asleep I hear a sigh, hear a voice speak whispers best ignored Should I even bother though, yes or no: don’t worry! Wow, Caitlin did an amazing job on the lyrics too. Anybody that translates the original song knows that how slow the words come out. Just translating them into English wouldn't fit the rhythm but here shew manages to fill out and extend the simple lines of the original and construct it to be more full. And everything flows well, the words, the synonyms and still rhymes. This is genius at work, and she managed to be on key and hit every dynamic 100%. I would be surprised if she hasn't made any originals yet (Yes I am new and don't if she does or not). She clearly has the talent to do so.

Something old is discovered and feels new again. Then it's made into a new version that sounds like something old, nostalgic. Two generations singing in duet.

King True can't really say we deserve it. I mean since when is it right to give a bad kid that is the human race the equivalent of the physical incarnation of perfection itself?

This is a fantastic cover. You did a great job on translating the lyrics while retaining the songs tempo, not to mention how well you emulated the vocals of the original. 10/10 would be recommended by KZbin again

This is *the* definitive English version of this song. One of the best and most creative covers and translations I’ve ever heard. To me this is just as good as the original. And from an English perspective, it’s even better, IMO. It is so elegantly and beautifully sung and written. I can’t just listen to the original without listening to this version as well. Bravo!

It sounds like REAL Mariya Takeuchi learned English. This is not a simple cover, You studied her voice and intention thoroughly.
@skourgey4 жыл бұрын
The real Mariya actually did study abroad in USA for a year (Illinois of all places), that's why her English sounds a bit cleaner in her own recordings
