You seem to have a lot of mysteries surrounding this kit. The second engine is not a flathead, it's an overhead valve Pontiac engine. The extra parts go to the first release back in the early 1960's which was a 3 window coupe or roadster build. I built both back then around 1962. The 5 window you have has been released twice that I know of and the 3 window is out again right now in 2019. The convertible is not a cabrolet but a roadster. There may be more releases than I am aware of. Also the 5 window too had the optional parts so you could build a custom or street, which is where you might choose to use that Pontiac engine. There was the Dick Tracy 5 window which supposedly could only be built stock but if you have been around models a long time we all know you can do most anything if you have parts enough lol ! Anyway, considering you were working a bit unaware on this build it came out really nice, congrats on a nice looking 36 Ford 5 window coupe ! When I was a kid in the early 60's I always wished for the 5 window, it had not been released yet, in fact in the late 60's they did a second release of the 3 window. Nuff said, again congrats .

This kit was derived from the early AMT Trophy Series kit from 1961. It was a 3-in-1 kit that could be built as a stock roadster, custom or drag car with a chopped 3-window coupe roof. The kit was re-issued many times over the years and a stock-height 3-window coupe roof was added along the way (1967). And, yes, that optional engine is an OHV Pontiac 389 from the 1959-61 period. In 1990, the kit was modified to recreate the '36 Ford 5-window coupe from the 'Dick Tracy' (1990) movie. Round2 restored this kit in 2013 to its mid-'60s glory as a roadster with the chopped top option and new chromed wheel rims.

Really looks good. I agree, painting white walls is a pain. I use Testors flat white acrylic in real thin coats takes forever but worth it.

I also use acrylic on them. I think I was too impatient on some and put it on too thick. The last ones I did turned out much better.

Once I get a permanent home for my models I will do a video of them all. I have decades of built kits going back to the mid 70s in boxes. I’ve never thrown a build away.

Wow how old is that Armor flat black spray paint? It looks like something out of the 1960s 😂 Your model came out nice! I have several different releases of this old kit waiting to be built, including this version.

I don’t think it’s that old.lol. Probably from the 80s or 90s. Left over stuff I couldn’t throw out cuz it still works.

How difficult was it to install the steering column thru the firewall as there is no hole in the firewall? I ask as I just got this kit. Cheers from Nova Scotia....

I don’t recall the specifics of this kit but if there’s no hole then the column isn’t meant to go through the firewall. Just butts up against it.
