The standard Ann Landers advice for the female caller thinking of straying is to try to get the guy to go with you into counseling and, if he won't, go by yourself. Sarah jumped to the get-out part, which is the most likely outcome but lacks the same sheen of "due process." On the plastic surgery I'd have to say that Kenny Rogers and especially Megan Fox are cautionary tales - Megan was beautiful and had no need for it and came out worse. Kylie Jenner bothers me a bit because of such a young age and so much work being done, but she thought she'd end up worse off than Khloe and so far it's worked out. Though Kris reportedly can really be bad about favoring the children that bring in the most money (Kim and Kylie, currently) Sarah as usual seems to apply enough moderation to avoid being the cautionary tale.

Plastic surgery/aging....I think that is about what you say- insides v outsides. But on a deeper level I really think it boils down to a fear of death 💀

@@Clyde-lb5fe I don't disagree with that, it's definitely been shown to be a thing that women in Hollywood have a harder time as they age. As someone pursuing work in death care, I'm speaking more to the general idea of why do we fear aging? Why do we want to look 20 something forever? And that's the part that I think ultimately boils down to a fear of death. I'm down to discuss it deeper, always 💀💜

This is for the caller who just moved to L.A. Yep, the pandemic could've been over! I moved to central western Mississippi a little over a year ago from the Midwest, and it is hard to get into a social life now. I don't look to friendships so much to get something from it, but to become a friend. I also really don't need alot of friends. And yes, the pandemic could've been over except for the many people who buy into the Covid conspiracies- "Covid-spiracies!" Just coined that as I was typing this comment! The Delta-variance started in this area! Yikes!

we live in a society that conflates reproductive function and socially constructed gender roles. it is not that transgender people are born into the wrong body. it is that we are born into a society that confirms gender by sex characteristics. it is therefore necessary to communicate this in our presentation of gender to ourselves and others. the internal and external expression of gender and acceptance of our transgender identity is a greater therapy than any surgery or hormone therapy. if it were simply a case of being born in the wrong body then surgery would be the right treatment and the only treatment necessary but that is not the case. what is essential to transitioning is being accepted by your family, your friends, your co workers, and the wider community in everyday life. any surgery or hormone therapy is supportive of this and a personal choice that we all have a right to make because it is our body and therefore our choice, but it is not a treatment in itself. being loved is. go figure. thank you. x
@littleripper312
@littleripper312 3 жыл бұрын
I wish people would stop using gender as an identity. Gender is just your chromosomes and what body parts and hormones you were born with, nothing more. It has nothing to do with your personality and what you project out. To me gender is like a hair colour, you're born with whatever hair colour and you can dye it and project something different but it has nothing to do with your role in society.

People in the media have a lot of pressure to keep their face kind of featureless and symmetrical, because it correlates directly to their employment. As a human though, I would like to embrace the beauty of aging. Right now I’m going for a “Medicine Woman” vibe. It just seems somehow wrong to cut off healthy tissue, inject neurotoxins into our faces, sew bags of chemicals into our chests. Something creepy about that.

Yeah,..regular folks only wish they could afford plastic surgery. I had life saving open heart bi-pass surgery, when I was 47,... where the Docs, cut you open from below your collar bone down to your belly button,...well not exactly but, pretty much, & they cut your rib cage, and peel you open like the hood on a 1938 Ford. Well they don't care how disfigured you look afterwards,.....it took almost 20 years for the scar to look less gross. Plus sometimes, they do lousy work and you end up with a chest hernia,....a weird bulge below your sternum. They don't fix that stuff free of charge,....that is considered cosmetic surgery to get it fixed. I wish I could afford the plastic surgery to make myself whole again,.....but I can't. Then now that I am 68,...I am growing jowls,..on the sides of cheeks,...and a sagging neck chin,...As they say "I have more Chins than a Chinese phone book"! LOL....but they make you look even older. That's why all my male buddies have grown those gross looking hill-billy beards,...it hides their sagging lower chins.
