1) weld a 3inch scew on cap to the gas cylinder so you can easily refill it next time. 2) run the hose through a bucket of water with the hose coming out the bottom...keep the water cold. Yield will be much higher. 3) Don't cut a gas cylinder with a grinder like that without making damn sure there's zero gas in the cylinder or you'll be resting in pieces...

As many have pointed out... cutting a propane cylinder with a grinder or anything with a flame/spark is a great way to get hurt or killed! Take the valve out with a wrench and fill the cylinder with water BEFORE you attempt to cut the top out of it. Filling with water will push out any and all propane that might be left in the cylinder. The trouble with trying to make the cylinder 'reusable' with a seal and screw-on top, is the heat being used. You might be able to get around this my just cutting a 3" to 4" hole at the top of the cylinder and then put a 2' piece of threaded pipe in the top. Weld the end into the cylinder, and then screw on a top with the pipe and elbow, etc. The extra length of pipe, may allow your seals/gasket material to remain undamaged through the heat process.

I agree with everyone about the dangers of this video 100%, and I certainly do not recommend this in any way, I certainly would not do this! With that said, many missed the point of the demonstration. It showed the basic simplicity of the concept. There are many ways to build this device, but without the basic understanding of how it works, it makes it difficult to create a viable device which could mass produce the fuel. In sure the individual was merely giving an example of the simplicity of the concept by visual demonstration. It is like trying to understand how a car engine works, when you don't even know what the pistons are for. Let your imagination be your guide, and make a better, safer and more productive unit, and share it, I would certainly watch it. That's the beauty of this channel. @@rhec-cornbread well, a bomb with no fuse fitted you could probably hammer on all day. Those thousand pound bombs or two thousand pound bombs dropped from high altitude that survive and don’t detonate? The fuse malfunctioned, if the detonation charge isn’t triggered by the fuse the shock of the fall wasn’t enough to set off the main charge of explosive inside the bomb. Hammer away! You won’t be able to match the forces generated by an explosion that would cause detonation. Unstable explosives are impractical… That being said, natural selection favors those that are handy but also those that have an analytical mind. Being able to put concepts together, make connections, realize the outcome of ones actions prior to doing something stupid. Or at least learn from the mistakes and misfortune of others! @@adaster98 My response had no mention of cost - which I don't consider a real concern. The ecological problem is that the carbon produced by the pyrolysis sourced fuel, plus the carbon produced by burning plant matter, produces more carbon than is produced by simply cracking crude oil in the first place. This is even more of a concern with the crude reaction vessel and heating method used in the video. I doubt seriously if a small plant can ever be made efficient enough to be carbon neutral. Even the big commercial pilot plants only hope they will be able to do so. And they have access to exotic catalysts etc that improve the process. There are two problems here - the production of more carbon and the pollution due to the plastics. Ideally, we would do away with plastics and use only metal and glass, both of which can be recycled at relatively low carbon cost.

The SHTF very soon. Better to be prepared have access to this knowledge now when your petrol is no longer available. It is 7/15/2021 and in South Africa right now, risk of no food nor fuel is upon them. Being warned it is going to North America. How funny will it be then?!?!

When your country charges huge excise duties on fuel! No option but to waste time and money making your own fuel. Poor people, pray for them. Meanwhile I bought gasoline $1.5 a liter from a kiosk.

He was to remove the valve from the propane tank and neutralise it with 💦water before cutting the tank. He was lucky he must have become a forgotten issue by now.

what about the leftover waste from the plastics inside the tank? what do u do with it? i'm fairly sure it doesn't just 'evaporate'

There should be mostly carbon left behind. Maybe you could use it as some kind of charcoal? Would have been nice if you cut it open and showed us

Carbon is left over. On a bigger scale, carbon is sold. It’s very valuable in the rubber industry.

This video reveals that you need ALOT of plastic waste to make any real amount of petrol. That gas cylinder has to be 10x the size and that would be cutting the plastic into strips ahead of time. So, you would have to a large yard to even store that amount of plastic. Plus need you a good amount of wood to even get that amount of plastic to cook. It just not practical. I wish it was. Thanks. You made more money making the video than you did converting plastic to fuel. Bravo.

Its more energy efficient to fill a used plasitc bottle from the service station than to extract little energy for much. To me it seems a bit unsustainable and environmentally unsound. Like randomly cutting into a petroleum gas bottle with an angle grinder could prove to be unsustainable in the long run..
@karlsinger47603 жыл бұрын

This just come to my mind, maybe you can try to use solar energy to heat the tank, use some magnifying glass or mirror to heat the tank, so that no woods waste 🙏 Also you can use ashes and charchoal to fertilize your plant if you use wood

so your going to make fuel, for energy, but use more energy, to make the fuel?
@jamest.50013 жыл бұрын
If the sun could be used, this could be very interesting, and if you use woods you can make methanol, and natural gas, the methanol can be used in a automobile, the natural gas can be used to cook, or to sustain the reaction, I was going to try this to power a generator, use the pyrolisis to make natural gas, and solar power to split water, run the generator from a mix of hydrogen and natrual gas to fuel the generator, but I got solar panels and only run the generator when I must!
