The energy that went into making the fuel is greater than what is returned. Sure, the process can be made super efficient, but over all, you have to burn something (creating carbon pollution) so that you can make fuel that creates more carbon pollution. This is great in a Mad Max situation, where everything is already hopeless, but in a time where we can't afford to damage our eco system anymore this is not a solution for "recycling" plastic. Enzymes and algae have the capability to breakdown plastics in a sustainable manner. I appreciate the demo, not being negative. It was a well made video. Your plastic pipe that was close to fire might just melt. You must keep fire in control or increase height of the pipe. And the liquid it produced is not petrol but diesel.
@Rattlerjake13 жыл бұрын
Actually it is NOT diesel. Diesel will NOT ignite that easily, this is closer to a gasoline (petrol) and diesel mix. But you are correct about the plastic tube melting because it is too close to the heat source!
@airgunbubba25053 жыл бұрын
Copper would be a much better choice...also absorbs and then quickly dissipates heat, hence a condenser instead of just a glass jar in water would produce more fuel, less vapor.
@MrSupercar553 жыл бұрын
@@Rattlerjake1 that’s right. The volatile part of petrol is not the liquid itself, but the vapours it emits. In a petrol engine, the spark plugs are at the top of the cylinders and they fire once the air and fuel mixture is compressed. Diesel fuel burns at much higher temperatures, and ignites not from a spark, but because of the high temperatures it reaches when compressed in the engine, as the pistons rise higher in the cylinders. Glow plugs are used on startup, but they only heat the diesel up. They don’t emit a spark. It’s not the same kind of thing.

When gasoline companies make gas from oil they do it pretty much the same way only on a much larger scale. When plastic is made it also burns a lot of fuel and releases a lot of toxic gasses. The sad thing is that if you spend your life's savings to buy an electric car it's no better for the environment because you still get the electricity from a power plant that burns fossil fuels or trash or coal or worse things like radioactive fuels to make that power. If you're looking to get energy efficiency the solution is staring us in the face. We need to realize that we don't actually MAKE energy. We convert matter and HARNESS energy which is already made. The problem lies in the fact that we are all brainwashed into thinking in a narrow minded way. For over a century we've been burning fuel to make combustion which cases rapid expansion to push a piston which converts that heat into motion through rods and shafts and gears etc... the answer to energy conservation is neither electrical nor chemical. The answer to energy conservation is a purely mechanical issue. We don't need internal combustion for motion. We need to use hot and cold differentials to create a cycle of moving energy through the use of cold steam technology. The steam engine went obsolete because it required too much coal to push the piston and caused much pollution. So we made gasoline and diesel which burn cleaner and hotter and push pistons without any steam. But steam is a very power source of energy and to this day we still use steam to power almost all the power plants. Think about it...a coal burning plant is burning coal to boil water to make steam which turns a turbine which spins magnets across a coil to make electricity. A nuclear power plant burns radioactive stuff to boil water to turn a turbine which spins magnets across a coil to make electricity. ..essentially they're all boiling water and steam is the actual mechanism for moving the turbine. Today we have both parabolic reflectors and fresnel lenses which combined can use sunlight to melt solid rock into lava even in cold climates therefore solar energy is more than enough energy to make steam every time the sun comes out and it does that pretty regularly. The cold steam engine makes it possible to use that energy for power long after the sun goes down. Give me an open account with enough funds and I'll build you a car that never requires fuel or recharging and emits no greenhouse gasses ...then I'll build you a house that doesn't need anything from the electric company... then I'll be murdered as soon as the people in fossil fuels and energy find out and your house will be destroyed along with your car and you and anyone who saw it.
@AnnaëlleD3 жыл бұрын
@@captainKedger Thank you for your answer. I was just trying to make a "joke" about this video. I know how engines work and how industrial electricity is produced from steam. About the sun... It's for sure a way to get rid of plastic but it's fuel inefficient because of the volume of fuel to produce that small amount of liquid fuel. What toxins be they liquid or gas are produced???? How are they disposed of and what environmental factors do they have???
@KarlJohansen3 жыл бұрын
My thought about it since the very beginning only sun mirrors heating up the kettle with plastic in is the only fossile free way to do it.
@branni65383 жыл бұрын
Hi Karl, how very odd. After I posted this comment yesterday morning I went for a walk and whilst pondering said fuel issue a solar Fresnel lens came to mind with a revolving metal cylinder or a moving tilt table lens to prevent/avoid melting the metal cylinder. Or an agreeable distance for or aft of the main focal point to create enough heat but not to melt the metal would suffice. I not long ago saw a tv Fresnel lens melt metal for blacksmithing. For sure it's the fuel free way forward to do this but I'm still not sure the entire process will terminate the toxicity cycle created by the plastic manufacture.
@captainKedger3 жыл бұрын
Brann there is no non toxic method of producing gasoline. It's gasoline. The idea here is not how to produce environmentally sound fuel. The lesson here is that plastic trash can run your car which is already toxic af no matter where you get the fuel from. If you want non toxic transportation you cannot use any type of fossil fuels or petroleum byproducts. The answer is staring us all in the face but I cannot afford to build it...the answer is to build cars that run on teslas cold steam engine and make a solar boiler using parabolic reflectors and fresnel technology for your heat source. A sealed nitrogen coolant for temperature differential and a well insulated water tank for "battery" power. It's technology that has been suppressed for over a hundred years.
@branni65383 жыл бұрын
Hi Scot, my concerns and interest lay in the riddance of plastics from our world........not creating fuel. If the fuel can be used and it lessens the plastic littering our once healthy world then great...........but only if it's clean. It's a great idea but if the process is refined it could eliminate the toxins to pure carbon and gasses which could be cleaned somehow. As for suppressed tech and knowledge..........there are far better combustion and propulsion tech being suppressed than teslas steam engines. I have many ideas of my own but I will never follow them up...................or share them. Pointless and alphabet orgs and gangs won't allow it. The world is a controlled mess.

A proper distillation apparatus will have metal tubing over the fire/heat source instead of plastic hose that could melt and cause a nasty explosion. It will also have two gas collectors after the liquid collector and before the bubbler vent going out. One turned upside down to collect gasses that are lighter than air and one below it facing up to collect gasses that are heavier than air. Then you need an oxygen sensor after the vent and each gas collector needs to have compressors storing the collected gasses into appropriate containers. Otherwise you are causing some serious pollution

There's no way she could understand the precepts of the constitution when she couldn't even spell the word "alcohol" but she was somehow in charge of deciding my fate. This country is going to doo doo because of a generation of social engineering and constant brainwashing and everywhere I see an epidemic of stupidity so your ignorance of the basic process of distillation and the composition of plastics is frankly unsurprising. Are you, by chance, a flat earther? I'm just curious. I'm doing a study on the overall effects of social engineering on the ability of humans to evolve as a species and I'm collecting data for my charts. This information could be useful.

@@captainKedger Thank you for that! I too am blown away by people (especially in America and it's legal system) and their higher standing with lower understanding of such basic knowledge. Ugh and the supercilious way in which they convey it would be laughable like with any ignorant hillbilly if it weren't for the results it has on people's lives. Bossy people are usually stupid I think due to narrow-mindedness, but for some reason they get away with pushing their way into authoritative positions all contributing to the dumbing down of our society. All that being said\written, I am not a know-it-all but I am a learn-a-lot☺️ so if anything in this post is grammatically incorrect I welcome corrections and hope I don't come off as hypocritical. Scott Mason if you read this I wonder do you ever sadly wish you could be in the group of ignorantly blissful people who don't find it stressful or bothersome how the masses are so lacking in integrity and intelligence? Haha I do. It makes being inquisitive and interested in all this world has to offer almost insufferable.

Pelo preço que está a gasolina aqui no Brasil. Vale a pena produzir a gasolina. Acredito se você utilizar uma panela de pressão de 50 litros é o suficiente para abastecer um carro movido a gasolina. Parabéns pela invenção.

How much energy to spent (fire) compare to the result? Any explanation?
@Rattlerjake13 жыл бұрын
Doesn't really matter if you are burning scrap, like branches and leaves. And if it was done using a rocket stove it would use less fuel and burn way more efficiently.

You need to shield your plastic pipe from the fire… realistically how much energy is being expended to create the petrol? How efficiently can this be done? I note that you are using bamboo, so that’s a renewable source of energy.
