Pro tip: The splitter isn't just a splitter. It can actually do interactions. If you 'split' a power sink (put a splitter beside the power sink), the splitter washes the dishes for you. This works with the research desks as well, making essentially an auto researcher. But doing the auto power sink is sooo much more useful with how fast it can wash the dishes.

i don't think it works with power sink, i think it interacts with the wash basin. I think Lemur tried it with power sink and it didn't work but with wash basin it worked fine.

Yes, the only sink it works on is the wash basin. And this is not going to remain a feature. The dev is working on implementing an "interacter" appliance that will be able to do similar things and when that gets added, the splitter will return to normal functions

Huh, I could have sworn I saw it being used with a power sink and being exited about it, lol. But thanks for correcting me on that.

In the Netherlands, I've seen several penny-pressing machines at museums. They're probably not as common here as in the US, though. One particularly memorable museum was an open-air historical museum. Instead of feeding an existing 5-cent (the euro had 1- and 2-cent coins but they were taken out of the circulation) coin and cranking, they let you melt tin and cast your own using authentically historical methods. I still have mine on my desk here!

You know they have a good run when they get to day 14 and they survive and end the video.

We have penny squishing machines in the UK, but now you have to pay £2 to work them rather than getting a free squish. I can't remember if you have to supply the penny still as well

In Aus, we have Penny Squishing machines but we put a $2 coin into the machine as payment, and then use the machine to squish a pre-loaded copper coin. I can't remember if the copper coin used to be currency, or if the coin is blank, last time I used one was on my honeymoon almost 9 years ago. We did used to have copper 1 cent and 2 cent coins, but they are no-longer in circulation, so if the pre-loaded coins were old currency, they'd probably be 2 cent coins.

In Canada, I've experienced squish penny machines. It was really fun too, was at a science museum years ago and my mom gave me a penny to use. It was my favorite keep sake.

7:37 I'd like to correct something wrong y'all said here. It's a myth that the one cent coin cost more to make than it's worth. It used to cost more than a cent to make but we fixed that a long time ago. If you take a more modern penny and scratch it you'll see that it's Mostly Zinc electroplated with a thin layer of copper, this making it cost less than a cent to make. I get that people don't think we need a .01 and should just round up but don't continue spreading the false information that it is causing some economic damage to us. It's actually creating a profit.
@stumpt
@stumpt 2 жыл бұрын
You are right that Pennies have been primarily from zinc for some time, but the idea that Pennies make a profit, from what I have read, is also incorrect. According to this article from the Smithsonian magazine (www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/penny-environmental-disaster-180959032/) it costs 1.43 cents to mint a penny in 2016. According to this article from coinnews.net (tinyurl.com/3xabwhm3) it costs 1.73 cents to mint a penny in 2020. And this is simply the cost to mint, never mind the environmental cost of mining the resources to mint the coins, or the fact that the government loses $62 million in Pennies in circulation every year. (tinyurl.com/yn6ce4cr) So, while we may have been mistaken about some of the finer points of the penny, our overall point is still very true: pennies are a huge waste of money and resources.
