This band was a rock band and were in a club playing with a black funk band back in the day. The lead member of the black band got with the lead singer of wild cherry during a break and told him they needed to get some funk in their music. The song was written right then on a napkin at the table they were sitting at. The rest is history

I was a teenager in the 70s and I'm loving your channel Krizz! For the ppl who dont understand why a rapper would be interested in claasic rock I would say - Music is like science - it builds on and incorporates everything that came before. I appreciate you! "Play that funky music till you die!"

Yes, lead singer, Rob Parisi, is, very much, alive and well. He retired a few years ago saying, he wanted to hang it up while he could still hit the notes. I think this was around 2016.

It was not easy back then to enjoy all these different music styles and get along with people who didn't want to listen to it. I was raised different in a community of low privilege but with such mixed culture around I couldn't avoid it. Growing up in the 60's I got the 40's, 50's, 60's music from the adults and the 70's was magical that expressed a transition of culture change and gave us the 80's. I got to experience this in the moment and now looking back I enjoy others doing what you do in these videos. Thanks for the reactions, I keep watching them.

Wild Cherry was a hard rock cover group caught up in the transition to the Disco era. Not being able to book venues anymore, they decided to write a Disco song as a joke but it ended up being their only hit.

It's definitely a fun song. One you might enjoy is Ballroom Blitz by Sweet. "Play that Funky Music "was said by a patron to band member Beitle during a break. The group was playing at the 2001 Club Odyssey in Pittsburgh. The line inspired the song, which is about a hard rock band trying to adapt to the disco era. The lyrics tell the story of Rob Parissi, a band member who has an epiphany about his prejudices and frees his mind. Krizz, if you do the one I requested, Ballroom Blitz, do the music video, the live version had some issues.

@cup_cuppy_cuppers5817 Good point. I just thought the 2001 might have been an interview. If i had read all of the meaning, i wouldn't have gotten it wrong. They were at a nightclub in Pittsburgh called Club 2001 Odyssey . I'll fix my comment. Thank you for pointing out my error.

Music is music. No colour , no culture it's all of it. I grew up with eclectic parents ( I'm Metis ) an indigenous culture in Canada. I got hooked on everything from Classical ( full symphony ) type music to opera to rock and roll to funk and heavy metal and everything in-between. Yep don't limit yourself , people who don't get that either take themselves too seriously or just are stuck in a rut. Teenagers tend to get stuck in this space either due to so called friends or society in general , afraid to like a certain style cause they peeps don't give it a chance. Here's a HOOK " Diggy diggy li , diggy diggy lo. Met my love at the Fete do(ough)do(ough) . It's Acadian/Cajun you may have heard it in country music , I have a lovely memory of my Metis Uncle Earl teaching me to dance to this. Fun times!!!! It's a reel.( a type of dance ) I'm from Canada so there's a French/Acadian/Cajun/Metis connection and of course the music is all connected. Acadians were expelled from Canada by the British and some went stateside and became Cajun.

Mixed Vegetable Music Festival - already exists - it's called Jazz Fest aka The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival - 8 stages and 6 tents of everything from Gospel, Blues, Rock, Soul, Country, Hip Hop, you name it, with 8 days of music and over 600 performances. Examples taken from 2024's Jazz Fest include the New Leviathan Oriental Fox-Trot Orchestra as well as The Rolling Stones - and everything in between. If you haven't been, it's an experience you will never forget, and that's a guarantee - even before you get the Crawfish Bread, Alligator Sauce Picante, and Gumbo.

MIXED GENRE MUSIC FESTIVAL. I don't know if it still exists but in the late 70's through the 80's I would spend as much time as I could at Summerfest when I lived in Milwaukee. It lasted about a week and a half and had multiple stages; rock, country, jazz, R&B, plus the Main stage where headliners would play. They built an entire park/festival grounds for it so I'm assuming it still happens every year around July 4th. Used to be the highlight of summer; pay your general admission and wonder from stage to stage to listen to all types of music.
